Joto is a very common word here and used when guys show up here alone or with another guy...it's usually a joke but I wouldn't go around calling mexican guys that. KInda like puto...which is also often a joke...people teach their kids to say it thinking it's funny. But the guys who are not married...tourists who are here are usually referred to as jotos...kinda like kiddin around in grade 6...ya homo.
