4wd necessary for South road-San Jaunico?

Heading down to Loreto next week and was planning on going to San Jaunico for a few days. Have never been there and was going to attempt the south road. I have a Dodge 1500 p/u. It does not have 4wd. Is this advisable in this truck? Thanks in advance.

If you go down to Insurgentes and head north you can make it in a two wheel drive car.

no problem, air down to around 15-20 pounds depending on the extra weight in the truck and have fun.

I'd be surprised if there was any car other than a sports car that couldn't make it on the south road -- provided you are willing to drive very slow. The only exception is when there is weather and the arroyos are flowing, which is not yet the case.
