American killed in San Antonio de Mar

An American, named Ken Stuart, was found stabbed to death in the doorway of his home in San Antonio del Mar. His body was discovered by his friend, Saul Isaac Lucio, who went to his home to visit him.

A little too close to home for me. The false sense of security Americans are encouraged to feel in their homes in "gated" communities like San Antonio Del Mar takes it's toll. The guards sit in their shacks at the gate with 100 other ways to get around them. Very sad. I never open my front door without checking the cameras first.

I am looking for more details on this as well. The truth would be nice. the MOD on cases like this is to blame or discredit the victim- we'll see what happens in thei case.

Is this the area north of Rosarito where the Trump property is supposedly going to be built?

Lots of slang, many racist comments, interspersed with sexist and gay comments. Some people took issue with the newspaper using the word "gringo" in the headline.

Not that far north. It's about two miles north of the Oasis or whatever it's called now. I thought your new place was in that vicinity.

It is further south of the Trump development (or where Trump was supposed to build- they haven't even pulled permits yet- two years after taking everyones cash and declaring a "sell out").

San Antonio del mar is on the ocean side of the cuota and starts where the golf course begins (real del mar) and goes for a mile or so. There is a gated entrance at both the north and south entrances.

When I was looking for a lot to build on six years ago- I looked at, and quickly discounted- living in San Antonio del Mar. I saw the lack of security. I'd rather create my own security then depend on what I saw. I also didn't want to spend the rest of my life around whiny American retirees- I don't need the competition! LOL

Dennis, our new place is directly south of the Oasis property, so this is really too close! I am anxious to hear the details of this horrific incident. I have heard our place is supposed to be ready to move in by the end of the year. We are having serious doubts now because all our friends and family are afraid to visit us there, and that is one of the reasons we bought in the first place.....so, so very sad...................:(

Don't let it get the best of you, Ronni. This stuff is cyclical. Things will normalize in time and life will be good. There's still plenty of quality down here. Concentrate on that.

By cyclical do you mean it is going to get worse before it gets better? My friends won't even visit Rosarito unless I meet them at the border and drive them here. I don't blame them really- not knowing the area well and with the bad news.

When the hard economic times hit the USA and then Mexico it'll be shootout at the OK corral every day. They aren't going to go hungry down here with Americans such easy prey. It's just the way it works in natuire- and the animals down here are no better.

This kind of stuff really can happen anywhere. I live in one of the better parts of Mexicali; yet, several years back there was a mob hit on some guy jogging in the park just a block away.

The little town I grew up in the east bay hills of Northern California hadn't had a murder in over 30 years.. and then suddenly there have been 4 in the last 10 years. Go figure.

Keep your guard up. Don't be afraid to turn around and/or run if something seems not right.

time to "hone" your inner savage. put non discript double use weapons around your home (and a sharp machete by your bed!) and don't be afraid to use them. you should feel comfortable abusing some meth-ed out punk before he does the same to you or yours. otherwise it's time to get outta the corral.

times as getting tough and the garbage blows towards the areas with the least amount of obstacles.... become an obstacle. give us gringos a good name.....maybe they'll start calling us gringos "ronni's".

or just get a BIG dog if you can't handle the mess yourself.....

edit: more savage stuff...
