"El diesel solo para mexicanos": Osuna

"Diesel is only for Mexicans: Osuna"

http://www.oem.com.mx/elsoldetijuana/notas/n757747.htm

The title of this article is a little misleading. If you just read the title, you would assume that the governor of Baja is saying we should only sell our diesel to Mexicans. But if you read the article, Governor José Guadalupe Osuna Millán is lashing out at Pemex for being unable to handle the logistics of distributing the diesel in Baja and the apparently large contraband market in stolen diesel.

He goes on to say: ""No son norteamericanos los que se llevan el diesel; son empresas mexicanas", expuso, aunque, dijo, no se descarta el contrabando hormiga toda vez que a través de algunos medios ha visto cómo son cargados tibores."

[It is not the Americans who are taking the diesel, it is Mexican businesses, he explained, although he has not ruled out that there is some manner of contraband smuggling going on.]

The Cartels have many faces and run many scams in Mexico....

Very much like the Cosa Nostra (which doesn't exist)

Imagine the profit to be made if stolen diesel could make its way to the US market. At nearly $5/gallon, there would be big profits. I wonder if the Border patrol is looking for hidden pipelines? But more importantly, looking at how the price of oil has affected Americans and our economy, I wonder what would happen in Baja and to the Mexican people if the price of gas went to $4.50 a gallon?

Perhaps the cartels are useing the old dope smugglling tunnels to run pipelines.

They could get a lot of fuel over that way :wow:
