Airlines and Tackle

Any experiences recently with flying to Los Cabos airport with fishing rods and ice chests? I have always taken my own but with all restrictins now I don't want to hit the airport and have extra hundred dollar charges. I know the airlines are using every trick in the book for extra revenue.

Call your airline; they are all different.

Delta was charging $100 for rod tubes. I would say your best bet would be Alaska but definitely call. Everyone is trying to make up for the fuel costs.

I would add .... since you won't get that in writing... check again the day before your flight.

Good luck ... I remember , not too long ago, when the luggage claim would have fifty large coolers and a large number of rod tubes.

That was about 4 years ago when there was 3 bankrupted companies (over the high cost of gas)and the rod tube was $50 as the third 50lb piece of luggage...

Might save money by buying new rods when you arrive at your fishing destination and selling 'em before you return?:?:Did I see a rent-a-rod franchise somewhere?

Almost all charters will provide all equipment ... some better than others ... but usually you will find Penn reels and other top notch gear.

You will, however, have to bring your own Wasabi :bounce:
