Mexico to begin supplying more gas to stations in Baja California
http://www.frontera.info/EdicionEnLinea/Notas/Noticias/10072...
Note says that Pemex will start immediatly supplying gas stations with 10% more gas than last year

Seems like lately a few people want to do nothing but search the web for any and all negative things they can find about all of Mexico---including
Baja.
Good to be informed and know what to watch for and what to avoid, like maybe Highway 2000. Unless that is all hearsay.
But I wonder if the same people would do the same thing if they joined a forum about San Diego----boy, I know I could find lots of bad things about
San Diego. Heck, we have quite a bit of crime right in little old Imperial Beach. Oh, we also have polluted beaches.

I guess the operative word would be "uncertain" regarding the cost, supply or anything else related to fuel in Baja, USA or just about anywhere else.
Right now the oil producers have us by the short hairs. If we, being the western world, can't overcome this issue, we deserve to be at the
mercy of the oil producers. The major oil producers are the Arab States, mercy
is considered to be a weakness in their society.

Far be it from me to tell you how to read in Spanish, but I think you read that article too quickly. It says that Pemex has reversed it decision to
reduce the supply of gasoline 10% and will increase the supply 'above the levels of last year.'
It does not say it is increasing the supply by 10%, it just says it is increasing the supply above the 2007 levels. Since demand is running about 30%
above 2007 levels, we are only left to guess what that all means.

The only time I have ever had a problem in San Diego was when I was mistakenly pulled over for a felony stop ... bad ID on my car ... six cops each
with weapons drawn and pointed at me ... quite an ass tightener.
And most of that polution is from the non existent sewage treatment of TJ ....

No, no---FDTs was positive! Gibson was correct.
Sorry if this was misread. Also, my reference to Highway 2000 was because I do believe Ferna on that one, and some think it is heresay.
Things don't always read the way we mean them. I really feel bad if Ferna thought I was calling his post negative.
Thank you, because if you read it that way, others might have also read it that way.

I would never take 2000 at night but this thread is about diesel...Bajamigo was just this afternoon looking to get some...in Chapultapec at the Estero
Beach turn off he was told they were having problems with the pipas....maybe a response to his Oregon plates. In Maneadero he requested $200
pesos...the attendant asked if he wanted $300 to which he gave a quick, positive reply!

Since a lie (or a word out of context) repeated often enough will become the truth (Marx said that, right?), let me be clear on a the Blvd. 2000
comments I made in the past...
I said a post from any Nomad about the conditions of the Blvd. 2000 just traveled, is far MORE accurate than 'hearsay' from others... Myself, bajaguy,
and others have posted about the Blvd. 2000 being a great shortcut to avoid the mess of Tijuana... and not a long a detour as going to Tecate. I hope
every Nomad who uses Blvd. 2000 tells us how it was.
Ferna (a good friend of mine for the past 8 years and Tijuana resident) has posted he doesn't use that highway because of the reported problems....
That the problems he heard about keeps him from using it and he has recommended other avoid it, too. That's fair and worthy information, but is not a
DIRECT experience from a Nomad.
The 'problems' seem to all be at night with gangs (or animals) on the road... Well, since Tijuana has gone to hell lately, I don't think driving
through it at night is a much better idea... So, drive across the border region (Blvd. 2000 or Tijuana) during DAYLIGHT hours until law and order is
returned to La Frontera. Make Ferna sleep better if you don't use Blvd. 2000 (because he does love us all)!
Personal Nomad trip reports are the BEST to keep up-to-date on conditions!
Hearsay (posting what someone else told a Nomad or the news reporter's version of events) would be the SECOND BEST way... but better than no news at
all!

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the
State can shield the people from the political , economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State
to use all of it's powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy
of the State." - Joseph Goebbels ...

I am only guessing here but I suspect that Diane was referring more to Fulano's fascination with quoting bad news about Mexico. On the first page in
the Baja News, there are 30 topics and 11 of those were first posted by Fulano. That may be pretty indicative of a predisposition.

I see you are from Colorado. Just for the heck of it, I pulled up the first page of todays Denver Post.
http://www.denverpost.com/
Of the 10 news headlines on the top of the page, 7 are bad news. Maybe you can detect a pattern here. If you just want to read "happy thoughts" about
Baja, I have a link for you:

Enjoy your bliss.

Ferna, the tourists will come back to Baja when Mexico gives them a REASON to come back.
Your beating the drum won't bring them back anymore than my posting the news reported by your own Mexican newspapers here on this message board will keep them away.
Americans visited Mexico for the same reason they go to the Circus or the County Fair. It was a reasonably priced, entertaining, interesting
diversion. When Mexico returns to that model, the tourists will be back. You guys are your own worst enemy. If you continue to place the blame for
your problems on your neighbor to the North, instead of stepping up to the bar and taking responsibility for your own country, you will continue to
have problems.
Just look at your own post that I am responding to. Are you trying to lay the blame for your failure to attract more tourists on me?
