Todos Santos Restaurant?
Is there still a place in Todos Santos called Restaurante Carlos? My wife and I ate there 15 years ago and we wonder if the place still exists. It
was small, with dirt floor, etc. Great home cooking!

if it's the carlos i am thinking of it used to be next door or close to the old PO. it has moved down the same street a blocks on the corner. IMHO
it is not near as good as it used to be. there are still some pretty good dirt floor places. Try the place across the street from shut up franks.
good breakfast reasonable prices. not sure about lunch or dinn since we only go there for breakfast.

Bajabus...do you Miguel's? If so, I have been there Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All are good, but watch out at lunch with fish plates,. it get very
warm in there. Miguel is a great guy.
Bob H...are you sure it was Carlos as I have never heard of it. that is not surprising as I have only been going there for 6 years and I have not been
to all the places. I just don't remember it listed in the calanderio maps. Don't have one here now to check.
The place I like best is Fuente's place on the corner at the only stop light, and sometimes works. It is a very classy Baja restaurant. Good food,
great ambiance and palapa architecture...and the young ladies are very nice.

yes Miguel's and you are right he is a great guy...well worth supporting.
Carlos used to be up there past the post office. He was known for his lobster bisque. moved out of that place and went down to the next corner.
Fuentes is fine also and the palapa is beautiful. they used to make a killer fried huachinango ( red snapper ) but the last few times it was much
smaller and overcooked. still the wife and i like it in the evenings for a nice dinner. they also have a wonderful Christmas display.

The guy was Carlos, for sure. My wife and I had lunch there and he sat with us at our table - showed us a book he had made up about Todos Santos. He
also showed me that I was not eating all of my shrimp - by picking up one of my discarded shrimp pieces and showing me how to 'pinch' out the small
bit left in the tail. Great guy, originally from Ensenada.

Miguel's is definitely a Todos Santos icon
Have not had breakfast there for awhile but hear it is still great.
Unfortunately, his mother is no longer cooking the chile rellenos and
the last few times we were there for dinner we were disappointed with
the substantial increase in price and the noticeable change of cook
Miguel, as always... a fabulous host!
Remember, when in Mexico, yes may be no and no may be
maybe!

We have good memories of that place. Someday we will return.
That palapa is on my top three favorite palapa's in Baja.
The "poles" that hold the palapa up were brought over from the owner's home town in Nayarit, he wanted them so he would feel like he was home. They
are unique. Someone should post a photo of them.

We had dinner at Las Fuentes a couple of weeks ago ....
Over cooked shrimp and tastless too ... said they had no peppers to make garlic shrimp hot ....
Medeocre service ...
And WAY OVERPRICED !!!
It seems that many of the Todos Santos restaurants have recently raised their prices substancially with no visable improvement in service or
quality of food.
Two thumbs down for Los Fuentes ....

Second Zaguan. Quiet, ambiance is nice, service is good, small enough to be personal and the food is great.
I know Miguel, like he food (and I eat there) but if you're looking for quiet, this isn't it. Semi's in both directions 20' from your table.
Guess it's possible to get use to anything -- but trucks so loud I can't hear people talk is not one of them.
A favorite is Hotel California. When ''Danny'' is there (he's the Chef Jefe), food is great -- but even without him, it's consistently good. Rib

Lee,
I agree about Miguels .... however , it has been a lot quiteter since 80% of the trucks are now taking the temporary bipass past the school.
And you don't strike gold on every trip to Miguels.
I have yet to try El Zaguan . Thank's for the tip.
