Why does everyone seem to be in such a funk?
Sure there are a few problems. I don't think anyone is in denial but it ain't all bad.
Fishing is HOT everywhere just about. Fuel is plentiful and cheap. Beer is cold, ladies are beautiful and hot.

I see a few spot shortages here and there. And it's still around $2.50/gal isn't it.
It's not a problem.
Why do you paint such a gloomy picture all the time?
Some people get a thrill off of creating a bunch of negative drama.

Just the way it is

I think arguing the negativity is negative rather than reporting it.

I for one do not see things negatively -- probably never will. I don't think of Baja that way and don't see it that way. Bad news sells and people will probably believe the worst anyway -- because I think that's how alot of people are. For the rest, it's Baja as usual.

Nomad factual (I hope)but mostly bad news, reporter.

Question to all: Do you smile when you bring up and talk about Baja off the net?

If not, a pity, lo siento!

Hey fishbuck, if you read the news instead of the jokes on the bar napkins during happy hour, you would know that 60% of the gas stations in Baja are out of gas. You do read Spanish, don't you?

http://el-mexicano.info/nota.aspx?idNota=312451&esSecc=t...

"DESABASTO DE GASOLINA EN EL 60 POR CIENTO DE LAS ESTACIONES EN LA REGIÓN"

So, fishbuck, since part of the raison d'etre for this board is to give current information on Baja to travelers, what good does an ill-informed comment like: "Fuel is plentiful and cheap" do anybody?

Inquiring minds want to know.

You can read all the newspapers you want, I was just in Baja and encountered no shortages. Just my real-life experience.

June 24, 2008 - 5:34PM
BY STEPHANIE SANCHEZ, SUN STAFF WRITER
SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, Son. - Some gas stations here have experienced a gasoline and diesel shortage partly because they haven't been able to keep up with the high demand of American motorists who are crossing the border to take advantage of cheaper prices.

PEMEX gas stations workers said they hope their fuel supplies normalize this week after delays in fuel shipments from Rosarito, Baja Calif., and high demand from American motorists combined to cause shortages.

It appears to be temporary and limited to the border. Not a problem.

It appears to be a month-old news article, and did you happen to notice they were talking about Sonora?. That's your problem.

Hey, that's good to know, Zac, 'cause your posts and blog say you were last in Baja about 10 days ago and the article I read was from yesterday. You should update your blog for the trip you took to Baja after you got back on the 13th, since your information is more current.

I looked in google and yahoo. Couldn't find any reports of fuel shortages. Sorry:cool:

[last sentence]In addition to the uncertainty experienced by managers and employees of gas stations, FRONTERA found that the bewilderment of the people is increasing, because although the facts speak louder than words, in not one single gas station were there banners announcing the lack of fuel.

I saw this one but I guess I didn't read any shortage into it.
My spin:
They are cutting the fuel supply near the border. They don't want the subidized fuel going into the US. So they might run out of gas there.
The is plenty of fuel and no lines in Rosarito. I never fuel up until I get to Ensenada.
So from Rosarito on south plenty on fuel.
Plus recent field reports from a reliable source (Bajaboy) indicate no fuel shortage.

I did like the part about ladies trading sex for gasoline.
I always have a full tank of fuel in my truck so if any lady Nomads need help...
;D
