the only people i give credibility to are those who tell the best stories, preferably around a campfire while the surf is pounding in the darkness.

networks....nah!

I actually enjoy stories around the camp fire on the beach during a full moon in dangerous Baja. Just about as much truth there.:yes::yes:

No it is not safe to return to baja. It's a dangerous vile place full of people who will kidnap you, cut off your head, and throw it onto a disco floor. It's a new thing, call the Mexican Head Dance.

Stay away, please.

That is unless you're a surfer, fisherman, scuba diver, sailor, swimmer, off road racer, drinker, motaman, reader, nature lover, dreamer, latin america enthusiast, or just like to relax in a quiet place. Then, come on down.

Mine is a sweetheart too, that's why I decided to keep her even after I realied that she was an alien. If I could figure out how to post pictures I would attach some.

In an effort to peel this thread away from the hatemongers and return it to its original subject, re: safety (or lack of) in the Baja, I would like to ask if any of you have heard of the armed robbery of the Campestre restaurant and its patrons on a recent evening in La Paz. The Campestre is an ideal location to rob -- on the Carreterra Norte where one can travel both north and south at high speed and also near the T intersection of the road that goes through Fidei Paz and over to the highway to Cabo San Lucas.

Have also heard a horrible tale of a young man recently beaten unconscious and robbed at the ATM at CCC Colima, then driven out into the country and dumped.

It seems to many of us that the amount and the nature of crimes in La Paz are changing for the worse, possibly due to an influx of the unemployed coming over from the mainland to find work, and also due to the increased police and military presence in Baja Norte.

The problem typically presented by migrations of people anywhere is that they bring their bad habits, their loopy religious beliefs and their corrupt politics with them, i.e., they bring with them those same qualities, habits and beliefs that made them unsuccessful in the places they are fleeing from in the first place, thus degrading the quality of life in any community to which they flock.
