Watering down diesel in Mexicali????
Ok, had two friends call me regarding about 22 stations in Mexicali being shut down due to watering down diesel with mixture of a little
water/gasoline/ mixed with diesel . It appears while the suspected stations
tanks are being checked they are closed, plan to go down tomorrow but do not want to get my truck messed up. Has anyone heard or seen anything on
Mexican T.V. or in the newspapers in Mexico on this???? My last fill-up of diesel my truck started smoking from the tailpipes and it has never done
that before. I thought I might have gotten some bad diesel due to tanks being too low and getting some junk from the bottom of the tanks.

Oh great!
We just replaced our '99 Super Duty Crew Cab 4x4 Long Bed V-10 (FOR SALE B.T.W.) with a '06 Super Duty with the 6.0 Diesel.
Haven't driven it down yet, just got it Thursday. Still, I'm a little leary about using the Mexi Diesel, the dealership says don't use it, but I was
planning on mixing 50/50...
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

What year/make is your Truck?
We were down this past weekend for a quick trip, the weather was actually nice, breezy, but not too much, low humidity which was nice, water was a
cool 88 degrees.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

BajaWarrior, my truck is a 2003 Chevrolet 2500 HD diesel. Have been getting diesel in Mexicali for about 3 years. Have not had any problems in all
of the past 3 years and I am just hoping this is a stupid stunt that Premex is stepping down on quick if it is going on. Weather has really been
running around 106 and cooler at night about 89. However, we have been up to 116 and 100 at night and the worse has not got here yet as August is a
coming, yea 120 to 122 just can't wait for those days it just makes summer summer. Ok, that is why I am glad I get to retire after 35 years when I
throw my pin across the table this next year. This heat just gets tougher to deal with as you get older, never get use to it no matter what anybody
says, we just bear it!!!!!! Later------- bajafun777

The Ford diesels have a warning light that comes on when they sense water in the diesel. It gets trapped in the secondary fuel filter over the engine
block. It has a drain that is easy to drain. Then, close the valve, turn the key on until you hear the fuel pump stop pumping and turn it over.
Unless the contamination is really severe, this will work for a significant number of miles.
I misspoke about the fuel filter being the secondary. It is the primary in most cases. I put a simple in-line filter before the fuel pump on the rail
in my 7.3L, so it's the secondary for me.

truck ran great to loreto and back f250 7.3 diesel my last fill up was at the pemax that's by the kenworth truck dealership in mexicali before
crossing the border yesterday

Well the water filter is just great for the water. Once the gasoline hits the injection pump bye bye. Went down to BOLA on July 4th week and there
were alot of boats left high and dry because there was diesel and water in the gas.
The gas stations claim that the contamination happens during the time that the tanker ships transport the fuel.
They said that their station tanks are new and do not leak, but a lot of the ship tankers are old and cross contamination with water and diesel/ gas
is not uncommon. Who knows.

Their theory sounds believeable as the tanks in BOLA are pretty new.
WOW, if Roasty got diesel in BOLA, maybe it was contamination.

If the tankers are not product specific there could easily be cross-contamination ....
Short of steam cleaning (which I doubt is done) there is no way to completely clear the previous contents from the tanker.
