Reasonable, Secure Motel in Ensenada

Joker says is completely full due to Federal Police presence. Love it, but full!

Any good, secure, reasonable hotels, motels that you might suggest.

If so, please post telephone number, address, etc.

Try this place:
Ensenada Beach House
www.ensenadabeachhouse.com

Located near the Estero Beach Hotel and right next to Mario's restaurant.

Motel Colon is perfect, however, in August cannot make a reservation for Saturday only. Too many people from out of town coming to the cool weather.

However, thanks for the tip. Still looking for something reasonable and secure.

Santa Isabel has gotten a bit seedy, but the price is right, the location is good (El Rey del Sol across the street)
and the parking is secure.

What's up with the Joker? Seems as though they've become real proud of themselves. Friends stopped in to the bar a couple of weeks back for a Bloody Mary. Eight bucks each. That's outrageous for a gin mill on a section of the highway under severe construction.

Best for the money and security - Las Palmas Hotel - gated parking, 24 hour check in desk is in the parking lot!! just south of the hospital if you are traveling north taking the "old route" to the Gigante (now something else), where you would turn right. It is across from the pottery place - best I can do. - Marv

Marv has me confused but, I think Las Palmas is a stones throw from the newer Navy Base entrance. The RV park is across the street and lots of restaurants in the neighborhood. Las Cazuelas, Toro Steak House, McTaco down the street next to Las Brisas. Other good selections as well. Two hospitals in the vicinity in case the food doesn't like you or you get hijacked, mugged or pounded senseless. The hotel is next to Tutti Donas which will start your day with the best apple fritters in the whole wide world. They're the size of cow pattys but, if you can only imagine, they taste better. There's a liquor store and a car wash but, I can't recall a pottery shop.

Prices.......No idea. Just hand them your credit card and don't ask.

Mood: Enjoying Life with Wife In Mexico, Easy on The Easy

[*] posted on 8-1-2008 at 12:55 PM

The San Nicolas ran me about $65 with the local tax extra forgot what that was. The rooms were ok, beds slept ok, had a small balcony out a sliding glass door facing the inside court of the pool, jaccuzzi, and little bar. The inside has a good resturant, behind the restruant accross the street is another very good restruant, and in front across the street is a gated, guarded and double gated with the same guard if you have a motorcycle. Enjoyed my stay there and used taxi to take me downtown ran $5 dollars but ok, in the day time I walked the 5 or so blocks to downtown and to where the El Rey is since it is the fifth block. At night and drinking makes for a bad walk back to hotels always use the taxi system for the "E" ticket ride back to my hotel to make for a good laugh when getting out in one piece. We had stuff in the back of our truck and it was still there in the morning of course we tipped the guard a little that night and another small tip in the morning as we are earlier risers even during a night of drinking. By the way I have seen some of the $45 dollar rates hotels but not for me where they are located. Later---------------------- bajafun777

Baja fun - way off - take the old route through Ensenada - turn left at the giant inflated tecate beer can ( across the street from the old disco bar), instead of going straight so you can go by the fish plant. Before the stop light at the hospital look for the entance to Las Plamas - there is a very expensive pottery and used car lot store across the street). It is about half way up the street - last time I was there price was $40 US; good luck - check their web site - Marv

Not in Ensenada but not too far south is La Paloma in Santo Tomas...
$35 bucks and way out of the rush and mess of Ensenada...
Its the one stop shop in Santo Tomas - Pemex, general store, restaurant, camping (across the street)
and hotel...Off-street parking up steep driveway- piece of cake - mellow...

Not a bad restaurant there as well. Hope I'm not being too picky picky here Viva but, it's called El Palomar. Don't want folks spending too much time looking for La Paloma.
