YELLOW TAIL BITE IS FINALLY ON IN ASUNCION

Finally the water warmed up and the yellowtail have arrived in Asuncion. We had been waiting for sushi since february. Timo swore he was gonna catch the season's first YT and he was RIGHT. He caught the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and let his compañero Ed catch a few too...they got 8 YT, a bunch of big calicos and some bonita.

They had a good laugh because the 1st yellowtail hit a white scampi when they were jigging at San Roque Island so got 7 more trolling there with red and white rapallas. So Timo still holds this years record YT and is looking forward to winning the tournament!

Ed who just wanted to calico fish was pretty excited to catch a yellowtail too on his first fishing charter out of Asuncion... More action tomorrow!

Yee Haw! The yellowtail bite is on!

I could tell from the surfing pics that the water looked right!

A scampi!? Those yellowtail are hungry!

It's halibut season now too....the kids are slaying them off the jetty in town and San Roque is full of em....Juan has been spearfishing in order to get the size he wants. Tim even got a couple Pacific croakers casting off the beach there. Corvina are hanging around too...geez first real great day of fishing and my freezer is full (we have a small freezer compartment though). Our friends and family are all having yellowtail today!

Shari, you are a tease!

Okay no kidding. I would like to fly down in a couple of weeks.
I have two planes that will make the trip to B. Asuncion. They are parked at Brown Field. Since I a not fully checked out I will take my instructor. He likes to fish and already agreed to go.
But it's not cheap so I would like a couple of people to go along and help share the cost.
Both of these planes can fly at about 150mph so as you might guess it's much quicker and easier than driving.
My plane of choice is a Piper Cheerokee 6. I have over 50 hours Pilot In Command in this type but insurance companies are strict these days so I need to build a little more time with the instructor before they will rent it to me solo. It can carry six people but I usually take out 1 back seat and take 5. We could go with 4 and it would still be reasonable.
We could leave Sat morning at around 9am and be there by about 2 or 3. Plenty of time to get in on the afternoon bite.
We could fly home Sunday afternoon or come back Monday for a 3 day weekend.
If you are a little adventurous this is the funnest way to get to the good spots in Baja. And definately the quickest!
Let's go get some Yellowtail, Halibut, Croakers, and don't forget those giant Calicos!

You're killing me Shari!

That would be San Diego area; Brown Field, east of Imperial Beach, I think.
You need to go get another yellowtail !!

Ya, that's right. San Diego near the Otay Mesa crossing.

I'm going to try for a weekend in Sept. and maybe on in Oct.
Hey Cap Mike, I hope you bird is happy on the inside at annual.
We'll get this little flying club together eventually.

Claro!

Announcing the 1ST Annual Special VIP Bajanomad private Fishbuck Adventures Flyin Yellowtail fishing trip to the famous and fabulous Bahia Asuncion Blow Hole Bed and Breakfest oceanfront resort.

We're still working on the name but I think you get the idea.

I have reserved just for you the finest and fastest Piper Cherokee 6 for the following weekends in September. 13-15, 20-22 or basically any weekend you want. The plane is available with some advanced notice.
I will be flying it this weekend with my instructor to get my final checkout so I can take it solo.
I have over 50hrs in this type. All baja and mostly remote fishing spots.
We can go anywhere but I highly recommend we visit Jaun and Shari.

Click on the link to see the performance specs:

B. Asuncion is about 500 miles from the border and Brown field is just about right on the border. I'm thinking a little over 3 hours each way. We will stop on the way in at Ensenada and might be able to go nonstop on the way home to Brown.
Let's go get some yellowtail and have a great adventure!
