Erendira/Punta Cabras 8-8 to 8-11

Our trip to Erendira last weekend was excellent. Just to give a quick overview, my friend Greg has a house there that he has been building for the last 6 years. He is also the coach of a baseball team here in San Diego called Los Monos. Three years ago he had the idea to bring down the Monos to play against the local Erendira baseball team, and the rest is history. The locals also prepare an amazing carnitas feast for post-game fiesta, which is always fantastic. Another purpose of the trip is to bring much needed school supplies and sports equipment for the kids in town. I finally finished a day-by-day trip report with photos on my blog, which can be read here:

Enjoy!

Geoff,
Thanks for trip report PLUS added details in your blog. Nomad has been slow on trip reports this summer, so thanks to all who post. Any photos coming?

Thanks for the trip report and thanks to

your friend for having a great idea. What a true baja story. Getting the kids together is awesome and the supplies to help them was a wonderful touch. Made me wish I was there with you. I know that feast must have tasted great. Thanks for taking time to do a report. k:yes:

Very cool, I like the blog.

I'll be at either erendira or la bocana de santo tomas this full moon weekend, haven't decided yet, time to howl. :bounce:

Thanks Geoff for the post. Did I meet you at Greg's? We (Esteban y Cristina) have a casita south of the Malibu Sur campground. We put up some of our friends on the baseball team at our place over the weekend. If you were at the games, my 14-year-old son Hayden was Los Monos' mascot, in a gorilla costume. I know, that's technically a chongo, but the little kids loved him just the same.

Greg is truly a special guy and that was a special weekend. Wasn't the Ranchero music wonderful at the fiesta?

Thanks for the nice feedback on the posts!

Esteban, yes, we did meet at Greg's house. Everything about that weekend was great...I look forward to it every year. Here is a funny shot of Hayden from the game:
