Mexicali Premex Diesel At It Again!!
Ok, went down to Mexicali for breakfast, diesel and looking for leather vest and bam the Premex tells me only my main tank not my flowmaster could get
diesel in it. Tell the guy pumping the diesel ok but why he just shrugged his shoulders. I was in a hurry so I did not got to another station but he
told me all of the Premex's were doing this. Told him just last week this was not the story here and was not in Tecate either, so is this something
that the Premex manager at this station and others do??? If not then are others in Baja experiencing the same thing??? I am not going to push it, as
I had a good breakfast but I did not find my leather vest I want for when I am on my motorcycle. I guess I will order it online. Now, I will wait to
see how this goes next week and make my adjustments as needed. Like it is impossible to pump the bottom tank of diesel into the top flowmaster tank
and then go to another station and get the "bottom" tank filled. I also realize that I will have people say it's their diesel, so its their rules to
the game. I accept this but I will also seek the skill instruments to perform well in this new policies being said to Americans now . Later---bajafun777

Go to one of the new self serves --
I filled up in Mexicali Friday and then drove to Puertecitos. Northbound. I filled at the "new station"--self serve and filled again along with my
extra cans , etc. . No problem .

Ok, I will try some of the store/gas stations like out by the airport road at the new east port area and see if they fill it tomorrow. Driving all
the way to Puertecitos is a little out of the way but good to know about the new station and ability to get diesel at it. Thanks, bajafun777

I filled with Diesel at the new station North of San Felipe!! Ther are new stations all over Mexicali , but some of them still have attendants ! Look
for the ones that do not have outside people.

I use that station as well, I don't get extra Diesel but I'll be filling up about 6 cans of Extra. Haven't had a problem there yet with gas cans.
We'll be travelling south on Tuesday the 26th for a week.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

TIJUANA – Gas station owners in Tijuana and Rosarito have agreed to restrict gasoline sales for external containers, hindering Americans looking to
take lower-cost, government-subsidized fuel back to the United States.
The owners said they now will only dispense fuel in containers of 50 liters or more if the driver has a permit from Civil Protection, the agency that
oversees security measures.
This week, the president of the Tijuana Gasoline Station Owners Association, Joaquín Aviña, circulated a document to all local gas stations that
explained the new policy and told how customers can contact Civil Protection if they want a permit.
The office of the Federal Attorney for Consumer Protection accepted the new restriction during a meeting last week with top Pemex officials.
Pemex is Mexico's state-owned oil monopoly.
Gas stations still must sell gasoline and diesel to all drivers who want to fill their tanks, the consumer protection agency warned. The new measure
applies only to customers looking to fill external tanks.
Gilberto Aldrete Núñez, manager of two gas stations on the Tijuana-Ensenada highway, said stations are being monitored by the consumer protection and
civil protection agencies to verify compliance with the new policy.
In June and July, Baja California experienced a severe crisis due to a fuel shortage after the Pemex terminal in Rosarito ran out of fuel.
After the recent spike in fuel prices in California, the demand for gasoline and diesel at gas stations in Tijuana and the rest of Baja California
climbed 38 percent compared with the same period in 2007, according to the latest data from the consumer protection agency and Pemex.
At the Express Performance Center in Santee, store manager James Blue said he's seen a drop in demand for secondary gas tanks, which customers were
snapping up as recently as June to fill up on Mexican fuel.
Blue said he was taking three to six calls a day from customers interested in installing the tanks, which run $1,100 to $2,100 apiece. Now, he's
getting the same number of calls each week.
He attributes the slowdown to falling diesel prices and fuel shortages in Mexico in June and July. The new restriction could push sales down even
further, he said, but he's not surprised by it.
“The Mexican government is losing money like crazy,” he said. “They've got to figure out some way of stopping it.”

Ok, the external tank issue is what I think needs better defination. My flowmaster is installed directly to my diesel tank for longer distance
between fueling. I do not have a means nor want one to pump my diesel out to sell to someone else. Next issue is what is the emergency permit about
and what does it permit or allow you to do, I would think it means the external tanks that need further discription but otherwise will they actually
sell them or not to Americans? Finally, is this just Mexicali, T.J., and Rosarito areas? I plan on driving back down to Maztalan in February and do
not want to have to be concerned about not being able to fill-up all 56 gallons, which lets me roll down the road without worrying about getting
caught in stations that do not carry diesel or looking for stations that carry diesel. I also wanted to drive down to La Paz with the same thought
and not worrying about diesel. I want to fillup and then know that I will be in a large town when I need it again. My gas running trucks were not the
same concern as diesel is and anyone with a diesel truck or car in Mexico knows what I mean as to all stations not having diesel available.
