Believe it or not, I will be the first to say this. Do not use the free road!

Do not use the free road! between Tijuana and Rosarito as construction is to begin to widen it into a 3 lane. Currently it is 2 lanes in each drection but lots of housing developments have made this widening very needed. They promise that it will be finished by December 25th so between now and then do not use the free road :saint:

I am amazed by the virtual sea of high-density housing in that area. They bulldozed the hillsides and plunked them down fast. One good rain and they all end up at the bottom of the gulleys I think. Thousands of new $20K houses and only that one major road- three lans won't be enough. Don't follow the painted lanes- you 'll get in a wreck as they aren't updated as the road changes during contsruction. I've seen two flipover accidents there already.

the construction from puerto nuevo to the blvd 2000 turn off has been hell that past several month. Lanes suddenly end, the lanes aren't marked -- it's downright scary!

That whole construction stretch is a nightmare after dark. When they were doing the Calafia curve, there were crashes almost nightly

Gee Ferna, I thought you would be proud of me when I tell you that tonight, instead of the Blvd. 2000, we came home via the Free Road through TJ!!!

Now, I am totally confused!

Seriously, it was no big deal tonight, just after sundown...

fdt: when does the construction start? do you know where they will work first? any way to take the free road and detour around the detour? about halfway down the free road, there is an exit for the scenic road. where does that come out to on the toll road?
