Racism in Off Topic

Several of the posters on Off Topic get childishly carried away with themselves from time to time--if they want to make fools of themselves in public, I guess that is up to them. However, I don't feel there is any place for racism on the Baja Nomad forum. I think those very few (like maybe two) individuals who feel compelled to express hatred, passed off as political opinion, should seek out other internet places to do so. I don't think it should be tolerated here. (Hopefully Doug will have deleted the current posting and banned the poster)

It seems that if you spell out curse words on this Forum, you may be banned or at least have your post deleted. In my opinion, the cloaked, and blatant, racist posts are much worse.

If you don't like it, don't go there. And don't bring the topics of the OT board here. Sounds as though you have found a home for your nonsense, the OT board.

I agree too... It is in Off Topic for a reason... so we who don't like the fighting and noise making don't have to see it... Seriously Larry, why go there... and then why come back here and complain about what you saw there?

Keep Off Topic in Off Topic...

Thank you, Mr. Lee. You know, I drop in occasionally for a word or two, however I do keep close track of your valiant battle with the self-righteous rightys. I'm sure you can hear my cheers and I'd join in but, there's no way I can keep up with you guys. Anyway, keep up the good fight.

These guys are well practiced. The opposition puts up a good fight as well. This dialog is America at its finest. There are countrys in which one would die for voicing these opinions.

Well, Doug is one who is big on freedom of speech and made Off Topic to move posts to or allow Nomads to 'vent' instead of cluttering up the BAJA forums... instead of just deleting non-Baja subject threads.

Larry, Alex, JaraHard, BajaCat, and those who are against or feel ANYTHING you see on any Nomad forum is in violation of Nomad rules, including Off Topic then PRESS the REPORT button!

That alerts Doug/ Moderators to the possible violation then they can remove it or move it, if they agree with you!

Racism is off topic, and that is where it WAS, until this thread was started.

Help Doug, click on REPORT! It is up there just above the text, next to QUOTE (to the right from the date and time of the post).

OT...Don't understand that, if some of the posts there offend you, why even go there.
I enjoy going there occasionally and , yes, some is offensive, but, I also have to admit that some of the prose is outstanding and ,in itself, fun to read. ( Bill comes to mind )
The banter between him and Lee reminds me of my bar days.:no:

David. Thanks for the advice. Although I have been a member for several years, I never realized what the report button was for. I thought this section of the forum was for airing general forum issues, and it was certainly not my intention to spread the off topic nonsense to the other parts of the forum (and I distinguish between the normal nonsense, which is stupid but socially acceptable to some, and what I was complaining about which I think none of us want to be associated with)

Larry, perhaps the first thing you should do is request that this thread be moved off topic section (since it does not relate to Baja California, Mexico peninsula) and then debate whether racist remarks were made (complete with generalities) or if they might have been simply stating their observations about members of particular race/s and their behavior. If they said things like the N-word and that they are all just no good, then we definitely have racism. Or was it something else? I really don't feel like mining through the off topic section to see what you're talking about, so if you could elaborate, I would be most appreciative. Please don't think that I'm belittling your view of what constitutes racism, for I have not seen what you find to be objectionable. But in my mind, I do not automatically equate unflattering comments about behavior from members of a particular race as racist.
