Airlines flying in and out of Loreto

Is Alaska airlines the only one flying in and out of Loreto right now? Trying to find a one way ticket from LTO to LAX in October is very difficult with almost all flights sold out.

Alaska seems to to flying Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday, but I can't find any flights on Delta or Aero Mexico.

Thanks for your help.

Actually it is Horizon that is flying the route with the smaller 70 seat planes. That is why the flights are all sold out.....or exceedingly expensive. Beginning in November, they will add a Friday flight and the Sunday and Thursday flights will become Alaska flights with 737s.

Continental and Delta stopped service when Express Jet ceased flying the route. Aero Mexico also stopped their service.

Aerolitoral (Aero Mexico's regional) flies to Hermosillo 6 days a week from LAX. And there are daily flights from Hermosillo to Loreto. A bit pricey, slower, and smaller planes, but there could be seats when Alaska/Horizon is full.

Wow, all of these flights are really sold out? Does anyone know if Alaska was always going to return to the route or is that in response to Horizon being sold-out?

Well, Alaska never really left the route. Horizon is owned and controlled by Alaska; they even share the same web site. The Horizon fleet has smaller planes and Alaska switches to them when they believe demand does not warrant the larger planes. They did announce tentative plans for adding an additional flight later in the year when they made their cutbacks this summer.

Thanks for all the information. From mid to end of October, as of 9/18, Alaska/Horizon only had 1 seat on 10/21. My husband wanted to help drive his parents down to Mulege in early October and then come back about 10/14. No seats to be found that week!

Good to know they will be adding flights/seats in November. Hard to use the Alaska airlines airmiles when there are such small planes flying.
