An American Breakfast
Does anyone know of a place to have an authentic, down to earth, American or Canadian breakfast in Todos Santos ??

You are right on about Ignacio Springs B&B ..
I spent two nights there on my drive down last October.
It was a great half way break to my trip and the food, breakfast and dinner was awesome ....
For anyone interested, here is their link

Well, it's not TS but it is Los Cabos at oxxo's casa. Oxxa always makes traditional American breakfast every Sunday morning. Yesterday it was eggs,
either fried in bacon grease or scrambled with cheese and onion and peppers, bacon strips, fried potatoes with grilled onions, side of egg battered
french bread toast wiith special toppings, fresh squeezed o.j./mango, and Bloody Marias with Clamato. Didn't eat the rest of the day.
She owned and operated a B&B called Crocker House in San Luis Obispo for a number of years.

CaboRon - have you tried Cafe Todos Santos? They make pretty good breakfasts.
Edited to remove what got into CaboRon's crawl.

Who is Cheryl Miller ??
CAboRon |
Cheryl Miller who played basketball for USC in the early 80's scored 44 points against me when I was the lucky one who had to guard her in a box and 1
defense.
Don't think she resides in BCS though. |
Well Pacside,
This is a forum about baja related stuff.
This was just a shamless plug to let people know that you think you are a basketball player.
Who cares but you ?
Go get your jollies in off-topic.
CaboRon |
Your right. I am not a basketball player. It was a poor attempt at humor.
Cheryl Miller I believe is a real estate agent selling properties in the Pescadero and Cabo areas.
Also, not sure you saw my edit but have you tried Cafe Todos Santos? Or do you think that really isn't authentic American breakfast?

CaboRon. Jeez! You list Todos Santos as your home in Baja and you don't know where to find a good breakfast, American, Canadian, or maybe Asian?

Yes, I actually live in Todos Santos .... I have no other home.
As to Cafe Todos Santos, the joint is a rip off, for instance I was charged 90 pesos for a small bowl of Tortilla Soup a few weeks ago.
No , don't want an Asian breakfast, whatever that is
Lot's of breakfast buritos, which I have never liked.
And everyone wants to put a Mexican twist on things.
In Cabo San Lucas there are several places that serve a traditional breakfast ....
Do you see anyone posting an answer for Todos Santos ?
I don't ....

Todos Santos isn't a big place. Not many cafes etc. Expect a good breakfast
would be easy to find if you have time to look.

I need to preface my answer with the fact that I have no idea where to find a good American breakfast there. This just brings back such memories of
starting out in Baja realizing I was NEVER going to find maple bars which I LOVE as a treat on Saturday mornings. The quest took many different
directions, checking out what I thought were the best panaderias in Ensenada - to no avail. Did find some good pan along the way, but never maple.
Finally resorted to trying to make my own. Made me wished I had paid attention to my mom years before when she was doing all sorts of baking and I
wasn't even a little bit interested. Sorry, I am no help in your quest for a good breakfast out - I would have to go along with creating your own.
Then you can invite all of us!!

Hey, maybe I know!
But first, what is an "American Breakfast?"
There are at least 100 things I can think of in the spur of the moment that would be an American Breakfast. Let's start by discussing the menu.
What would you like to eat in this so-called American Breakfast?

Is there any easier breakfast to prepare on the stove than a typical American breakfast of eggs, potatoes, maybe a sausage and toast?
Ron, here's a tip that makes all this go easier and faster. Get yourself one of those heavy grill presses you see at "fine" diners in the US. It can
speed the cooking of breakfast meats by 100%, as well as most styles of breakfast potatoes.
Another tip on the potatoes..............cook more than one when you make them at night and keep them already cooked in the fridge. Will keep a couple
days. Just put some chopped onions in butter in the pan, add potatoes and spices and a little water and you're good to go in five minutes. For even
easier, I often crack the whole egg on top of the taters, cover the pan and let the egg steam on the top. A one pan american breakfast, if you do this
in the meat oil, after cooking the meat in the same pan.
Grill press is also great for browning bagels in the skillet.........way preferential to toasting bagels. A light coating of oil, butter or mayo
(browns nice and easy to spread) is what we use.
Anyway, that's how I'd change the lightbulb........................
