Loreto Lost an Incredible Citizen...

With great sadness we report the loss of Javier Mercado last Sunday in a tragic accident on the highway near Nopolo.

Javier owned and established La Giganta Realty with his wife Rebeca. They are known for their honesty and integrity in the Loreto business community.

He will be sorely missed by his many friends in the community.

This is a loving tribute composed by his friends and colleagues that Rebeca sent out today.

His car was hit by another car that jumped onto the highway to Nopolo as Javier was driving down the road. When Javier stopped and got out, the other car tried to take off. He tried to stop it and in the ensuing moments, Javier got hit by a truck pulling a trailer.

The cops got the guy who drove onto the road, but not the tractor-trailer, which never stopped.

Wow, I can't believe it. I had the chance to work with Javier and Kelli on many occasions. We became friends soon after. He was a good guy too. What a shame.

That was a very nice tribute. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, sons, and all who had the opportunity to know this man.

What a tragic accident.
