What did they say? Are the dead guys cartel guys? Any messages left behind? Any clues to the killers? It would be good to have some understanding of what's happening.

It appears that this is gang warfare. I've had the crazy idea that if so there's no reason to stop it, even thought that maybe it's the cops/army doing the killing. Pest control if you will.

Yea, it reminds me of early seventies when there would be an official body count on the news each day.

One sarcastic commenter in one of the daily TJ newspapers wrote, "Instead of telling us how many bodies are found each morning, why don't they just tell us how many are left alive?"

Few are following your logic. If they were, the border would be deserted. But it still takes 45m-1hr + to cross. They're gonna have to start killing more and at a faster rate.

Until I declare, "mission accomplished."

I'm more concerned with the last part of the article that says two businessmen were kidnapped as well. The "blue barrels" supposedly containing human remains in acid were left outside the TJ restaurant of a man who was kidnapped and released last year (for $200K).

IMHO, The danger for us gringos in the border area isn't the drug gangs interfighting and subsequent body count... it's the kidnappings that finance their actions while drug flow and that income stream is compromised for them.

However, most, if not all of the kidnappings don't involve ex-pats. If/when this changes most gringos will run for the border.

It's only a matter of time before the kidnapping gangs figure out that the local immigration offices have the FM3/2 records of all the gringos, which not only show their addresses, but how much money they have. It would only take a bribe of maybe $1,000 to get an immigration official to give them all the info they need on 100,000 fat targets.

Those old security guards in all the "secure" complexes can be had for a few bucks, or else just shot on the way in.

Of course, the downside for them is that the FBI would get involved, even if it is in Mexico. But those sicarios are huevon, they probably don't even care.

Great..... why couldn't you keep that thought to yourself. Nothing like a bit of business advice for the kidnapping gangs. Do you have a FM3/2?

Used to have an FM3. But the only address on it was my US address. Here's a bit of advice. Never give the Mexicans any more information that you have to. If you get your FM3 at one of their US consulates, like San Diego, the only address they'll have is your US address. When you cross the border, get the FM3 stamped, then it is valid. It is good for a year. There is no reason to go to immigration in Mexico and register an address. Just renew the FM3 at the Mexican consulate each year. If anybody asks, just tell them:

"I just stay with friends"
"I just live in my motorhome"
"I just camp and check-in to a hotel every once in awhile."
"I'm still looking for a place to stay"

You get the idea. There is no law that says you have to have some fixed address in Mexico with a FM3. A FM2 is a different story.

Relax Tony

The kidnappers don't read this board... Just the immigration authorities.

Besides, criminals don't need migra's records to know where the gringos live.

I see you're spouting your valuable advice on another thread.

I don't know if there's an official law but it IS a requirement. Your FM3/2 is tied to an address. Migra wants to know where you live.

In case they need to come and get you.
