Fire South of Maneadero

New fire this afternoon approx 5 miles south of Maneadero. This same location last year was the beginning of a fire that spread all the way north to Maneadero and west through the Punta Banda community.

Good news is calm wind, as you can see by no waves on beach below. Will hope for better luck this year in Baja, as well as Alta.

Smoke from La Mision in Ensenada?

Bruce, I can only assume that the cloud now hovering over half of the bay of Ensenada is from La Mision fire. Would like to hear from Keri and those north if they are ok.

Thanks for the pictures

The size of the pictures is just fine on my computer, and helps to define the scope of the problem.

Now, as to that obnoxious flashing thing on another post.....

oh well, some things you just have to live with I guess.
Sad to say.

You sure have a great view from your lot!

I've seen these fires burn all the way to Punta Santo Tomas and La Bocana, steep terrain all the way...

Haven't had a bad trip yet....

Haven't we already had this picture size discussion. They meet the guidelines, especially since they are hosted on a different site. Personally, I LOVE the big pix that Dock posts.

We are ok here in La Mision on the beach side. Lots of smoke but no flames.

Lots of smoke but no flames. Now back in the valley it is a different story..Lots of smoke and some flame we could see tonight but still quite aways back in the hills. We thought it was out this afternoon but guess it came up again strong. Hope the wind doesn't come up like it did last night or we might have some major problems. Our friends just came in from San Quintin they said the fire is about a mile north of the military stop up there in the mountains both side of the road they drove right through it. Said it was scary. .Everyone there ok? k

Thanks for keeping us updated. My house sits all alone in Cantu and we feel very fortunate we didn't get hit last year. Hope all is okay with other folks as this is the season when the fires can burn up a lot very quickly. And I so appreciate the pictures.

What is the local firefighter response to these fires? Do they have good equipment? When you see an fire east of you, as the one near La Mision is, are you very afraid that the firefighters will be overmatched? AND I LOVE THOSE HUGE PHOTO'S. Keep em coming!!!

I am happy for you, but

I have to use the bar to see the entire pic ....

This Ensenada area fire report brought to you by Grupo Modelo, S.A.B. de C.V.

Hazy skies and the smell of fire envelop Bahia de Todos Santos this morning. It's still calm. The grey smoke minimizes any visual contrast, making it difficult to guess on fire's progress.

Thanks, Keri, for more precise location of fire near military checkpoint, south of Maneadero.

La Mision fire produced an amazing amount of smoke yesterday.
