Hey! We snorkel off that rock point in the pic every winter. Schools of THOUSANDS of fish in 10 feet of clear water. Fabulous place!!

Beautiful Cape Morning photo, Ken...
...May I join you on morning photos?
...the other side of the peninsula...Not 20 years ago, though, but yesterday's dawning on the Baja Road between Catavina and El Rosario.
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

Another daybreak shot at Catavinia. This off Mex 1 a couple of years ago on the way home from Florida with a new boat.

Fabulous morning shots Roger, wiltonh and bill!! Roger your #1 is one of my favorite spots on the peninsula. My kids started calling it the "rock
garden part" of the drive. Thanks you guys for posting these.

And another East Cape sunrise. This one reflected on the door of my room at the Hideaway at El Cardonal, about 4 miles north of Punta Pescadero.

Bill, I gotta agree with Ken on that last one.
That's a wonderful image. I went back to it several times to see how you put it all together. Sunrise as a reflection... the frame of vines ... And
colors all complement one another so well in an understated way.
And best of all is it's simplicity.

The hanging rock

Perhaps you can tell us the history of the hanging rock in your picture.
I first noticed it in Tom Miller's guide books to baja. We always looked for it on the way south. Then, one year I couldn't find the landmark. We
drove back and forth along the highway until I noticed that the granite on one of the boulders was grey and sparkly. It became apparent that someone
had blown the side of the rock right off the highway.
I figured the bigger trucks that soon appeared after the highway was built were clipping it.

Road Rage Rock
Igor, I noticed the change in that boulder 'overhang', too.
I also had noticed in recent years that it was being 'tagged' repeatedly by rude defacings. They would be painted out with a rock-matching paint
color, but the graffiti would reappear very quickly. These events happened for about 2-3 years before the boulder's surface facing the highway was
chiseled off.
I was 'told' and do believe some officials simply took away the vandal's 'easel' and did the same to a lot of other rock faces in that area. Too
bad..an old Baja-traveler's custom that got a little too mean-spirited.
I would like to think that it was chiseled for the sake of the larger modern truck traffic..but really cannot say one way or the other with
certainty.
I suspect it may be part of each. Too bad..either way, a familiar old Baja face has been changed.
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

What a beautiful morning on the Cape - you captured it perfectly, Ken. It was the first photo I saw through my sleepy eyes this morning - had me
wakin' right up in the Baja dream, it did! Thank you ever so much for sharing your back-then morning.
And Bill.... well, that sunrise shot is stunning, absolutely stunning. You really do have some surprises in your photo collection, and I believe this
is my favorite so far. Thank you.

After the Tempest
Thanks for the kind words on the El Cardonal shot. This sunrise was not so placid as Hurricane John swept past Loreto and on across the sea to Sonora.
