Mattresses - cabo or la paz
Hola all: I am going to need 5 mattresses - 4 twin and 1 double. Has anyone purchased recently? Prices/ location. La Paz or Cabo. Costc, CCC, Walmart?

We had a heck of a time finding a mattress.
We looked at a ton of places in La Paz. Didn't go over to Cabo though. Almost everything we found was like a brick. If you've ever read "The Princess
and the Pea', you'll know what a job it was finding the right mattress for Linguine. We finally found one at Dorian's. It was made by Serta and is
very comfortable. Looking forward to sleeping on it in another week or so.
Ended up buying another for the guest room and get lots of compliments on it.
Sorry, don't remember the cost. Nothing we saw was priced well when compared to U.S. prices.
I think the world is run by C- students.

Amen, the mattresses here are generally very firm and, like BMG, I searched
every store in La Paz. Iff firmness doesn't bother you, you can find them all over, City Club, Soriana (seems to always have sales). Sometimes one
of the Segundas in Chametla will get in a truckload (new, wrapped in plastic) from some place in the states that went out of business.
Prices range from 2000 to 7500 pesos, depending on size, brand and whether or not on sale.

Mexican mattresses are a different size than American matresses, they are smaller and your American sheets etc. won't fit. We found a place in Cabo,
Decor America Interiors that advertised American size mattresses and we bought 1 Queen and 2 Twins. As I recall they weren't cheap but they are good
quality and comfortable. I had to have a custom box frame built for the queen but at Antares Mubles Rusticos y Artesanias in La Paz it was "no
problema" We bought most of our furniture there and they were a pleasure to work with......dt

We found the mattress factory in La Paz to have "many" mattresses which came in all different price ranges. We also found that every single one of
them felt the same. Perhaps they have improved since last year.

We bought my father in law a mattress from Coppel. Didnt notice until it came that only one side was pillow top...i.e. you cannot flip it over to
even out the wear.
It was about $100(delivery included), double size and he says it is comfortable. for that price, we are happy...

There is a mattress store on....Colima on the left side. I don't remember the cross street off the top of my head, but it's quite a ways up, possibly
about half way between Abasolo & Isabella Catholica. They do have Serta pillow top on both sides; the only place I found double
pillow top. That's where I bought my king, but they are spendy....seems like it was around $400; mattress only, no box-spring. Mexican kings are
approximately 75" x 78" & all my sheets are USA & like Kate says, you either sleep with your head against the wall or your feet hanging over!
I'm 5'10" & a Mexican king mattress is just barely long enough for me.
I have seen a place in Cabo advertised in the Gringo Gazette that imports USA manufactured mattresses in the dimensions we're used to....but I imagine
the cost would be even more outrageous!
Another word of warning....the 2-pc Mexican king frames are made to have the mattress sideways....the 78" side to side rather than head to foot, so
that means you stub your toes on the two center feet all the time!!! If they built them correctly, there wouldn't be wooden feet where my flesh &
bones feet tend to want to go!

I bought two US queen size Sealy Posturpedic (I think) mattresses at Costco in Cabo about two years ago for around $10,000 pesos.

Alas!! There isn't one beside the mattress, nor on top of the mattress (running to check under right now) ol, it's rare for me to leave myself open like that, but since Judy was quicker on the post button than I was on
the edit button, maybe you could CALL me if it ever happens again!
