bathroom shelf...

we made a little bathroom shelf yesterday...

our metal shelves we installed as an "after-thought"
(comitin)
were rusting in only 10 months of use

living on the beach is "tough"

we looked "all over" for a plastic or wood shelf that would match our bamboo stuff from bali

my neighbor came over and suggested we make
a "funky-artsie" shelf...so we did

the shelf is made of extra wood and grout that was in the garage

the ceramic tiles were hand-made by my sister...
we have a ton of them and they were in the garage too

it actually came out pretty good for our first atempt in shelving

we'll get better later;)

I love it... are those rocks embeded in the grout? The tiles are terrific too!

Looks great!!! Does your sister make custom tiles as a profession or a hobbie? She could easily sell those on eBay...

then we siliconed on the rocks ...

then we filled the spaces with the grout to make it look like the rocks are "embeded" into the grout...

we also drilled the wood to give the silicon and the grout "bite"

our sister makes lots of ceramic stuff

but would NEVER make any money for as long

as it takes to cure and fire her stuff...

later when we get here here she's bringing a kiln to do some stuff here...
we'll have to run the generator to get that thing "powered up"

Very baja. Even considering the dearth of bathroom shelf construction projects seen on Nomad past few months, it's the best! Have you considered marketing a complete bathroom shelf kit? :saint:

I'm going to try doing that. Except for the tiles. I'll have to buy them somewhere. But I could see those shelves all over the house, inside and out.

Time to put the knitting aside anyways.

Thanks Bob and Susan.
