Recent theft in Loreto/Nopolo/Juncalito Beach

Arrived at our friends home overlooking Juncalito beach to find that entry had been made in the fall into the home, and the outdoor storage shed. Stolen was a Honda generator, and contents fromf a tool box. Next door neighbor had lost 65/70 /75 watt solar panels/ There were 8 of them. They were Siemens & BP's. also taken was a Trace inverter, and 6 gel cel batteries. If anyone in the area or south is aware of someone reccently acquiring or wanting to sell, please notify med & I'll pass the information on. Seems there is a large amount of burglarys going on in Nopolo & Loreto at this time?????????? Many laid off Loreto Bay contractor workers in the area? BUT LB is still building homes at this moment. And the condo structure is still in construction.
Surprised to find several new bridges in the area, and others on our way to Cabo. Weather is GREAT!!! Not too hot, and pleasant evenings. Military stops were just "waived throughs". However, the one at Catavina was backed up on the northbound lanes with freight trucks and cars & pickups for about 1/3 mile. Hope that isn't happening on our way home in Dcember. We entered at Tacate. Parked at the shopping center lot, walked across to the immigration office, got our FMT's then had to walk three short blocks to the BankComer office to pay our fee. Waiting in line for about 30 minutes?????? Seems the HBSC bank across from Imm. doesn't open until noon?????? Trip south was uneventful, but colorful as verde everywhere!!!! Tried to find that darned "blue building" in Mulege restaurant, and couldn't find it, having clearly recorded the visual from the pic provided byf a fellow Nomad???????? Covered every street, couldn't find it??? Another senior moment I guess. Went on down to the south end of town and had Juevos ranchero's at the sort of round building restaurant. Same owner, same good eats. Stayed at Baja Cactus at El Rosario. Great motel ($40.00 u.s. for two) Checked out the San Ignacio Yurt motel (can't remember name now) Rates a little moire than we are used to paying, but think the experience would be worth it. We will stay overnight on the way north. Owner is very cordial!!!! The yurts are manufactored at
Cottage Grove oregon, just about 55 miles north of where we live. Great time coming down. NOW, to experience the Cabo Thanksgiving for the next two weeks. Then back to Oregon for the Christmas holidays. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Even though most of you have met us yet after all these years. Someday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are looking forward to it!!!!!

San Ignacio Springs Bed and Breakfast is worth a little more, if only for the breakfast included in the price ...

In this day and age, in a meth infested Baja, you just can't leave a home unattended for half the year .... It's like a big magnet to desperate people.

Home unattended for half the year?.... half a day I would say. It is terrible. I have been banging on the local police (La Paz) to have them better watch residential areas.Very little success. There is no patrolling and literally no response. You get Pizza faster!! (that may be true in the US too)
It has just been reported that the BCS state government has not used 97% of the 2008 budgeted funds assigned by federal gov. for security: Staff, equipment, training, etc. That is slightly over 100 million pesos. (some 8 Million US). The question is Where is that money?... did they just let it sit there and not use it? Did they "use" it for other purposes?...A probe is in underway.
Anyway.... just venting on the wrong board I guess.... sorry.
