New player for Baja TV

From Baja Digest:

Tue Nov 25, 2008 9:36 am (PST)
EchoStar Corp. forms Dish Mexico, takes on Sky

MEXICO CITY (AP) — EchoStar Corp. is pairing up with MVS
Comunicaciones to form Dish Mexico.

The new satellite television company will take on Sky, owned largely by the Mexican media giant Televisa.

Sky has had little competition from other satellite television
providers since DirecTV Group Inc. pulled out of Mexico four years ago. DirecTV Group Inc. now owns 41 percent of Sky Mexico.

Englewood, Colorado-based EchoStar Corp. says the new company will allow it to enter the Mexican market.

Dish will launch first in the cities of Puebla and Leon. It will then be expanded across Mexico in the next few months.

Sky has 1.7 million subscribers, mostly in Mexico. Some 87,000 people receive the service in Central America and the Dominican Republic.

Looking forward to that. I wonder if it will be more like Sky or more like Dish Network?

Undoubtedly gonna be what the Mexican user wants.

So just more of the same that SKY provides.

And it looks like it will be a while before it hits Baja.
