What can I catch surf-casting in Rosarito Beach?

I see guys walking the surfline with nets hauling in some nice fish- but rarely do I see anyone land anything surf casting? What am I missing?

Think ocean current, TJ River and of course the grand hotels and condos that run the coast south from Rosarito. Infrastructure including sewage etc. Now think in the past, and being an optimist and naive when Puerto Nuevo was a hot spot for Langosta, circa the late 70's max. Your catch might have been worthy of eating a local surf catch. Now, my fish and other ocean delight come from parts south, as in much south, but not quite to Cabo. My motto is stay in that area and the next day you’re in the ocean with last night’s dinner. Food for thought?

The way things have been this past year, you might just catch a bullet from a drive-by shooting!

But seriously, I'd have to agree with Bronco... I'd be practicing catch and release only anywhere north of Ensenada.
