NEW VIPS IN LA PAZ

The one off Wal-Mart.... overstaffed; cheap food; expensive.
Not impressed at all.

WalMart seems to surround itself with the same businesses. There's a VIPS by WM in Ensenada also. The only report I've heard was positive. I'll have to give it the test.

Anybody know if there's one by WM, Rosarito?

Vips is a subsidiary of Wal-Mart Mexico. Haven't eaten at the La Paz Vips yet but the ones I've tried on the mainland have been so-so.

I think the world is run by C- students.

Have to agree with LosAripes. We stopped for breakfast at Vips on our way into La Paz last week. Food OK but nothing special and definitely on the expensive side. Staff well-trained, but beware because they keep trying to push extras on you. Would you like a yogurt and fruit cup? etc...
You can get a better breakfast for half the price at other places in La Paz- (La Fonda immediately comes to mind as our favorite breakfast place.)

Yes, there is one by the WM in the new Pabellon in Rosarito. I have eaten at several VIP's and my impression was that is was just OK food at US prices.

I think Applebys would be proud and happy if their evaluation was "Just OK."

There is a VIPs by the Mexicali Walmart as well. It does indeed have some relation to Walmart nowadays.

Years ago, on the mainland I'd occasionally get a burger there when I was feeling homesick.

IMO - Food varies from so-so to pretty good. Menu is standardized. Prices are high.

For some weird reason I really enjoy the Pepitas there though..
