(More) Brown Pelicans

Tonight I was just going through photos from last year and came upon this shot of a Brown Pelican taken from the seat of my sea kayak:

Here's a short bit I wrote about them:

Brown Pelicans Back from the Brink of Extinction

What a great shot---just beautiful.

I never grow tired of watching the pelicans---graceful, clowns, social, and beautiful.

Awesome Shot, I've got hundreds of shots taken from the seat of my kayak also. For some reason, I never get bored shooting these clumsy looking birds.

I shoot with a camera of course...LOL

If he gets any closer he won't need to dream of a white Christmas.

I had heard that West Nile was starting to show in Baja - probably via the brown pelican. Anyone know of any human cases or confirmed bird deaths?

Thanks everyone!

well Nena, not so much as snowed-in as frozen-in ... it's 8 degrees out right now the the high today is supposed to be about 15... yuk. Last week we had a high one day of -6. Great fun!

So yeah, I'd rather take a chance of a white Christmas in Baja so am planning a solo trip for late January, the soonest I can escape ...

Pat,
Really like the second one---he looks very angry at what ever is attacking his wing.

This guy nearly ran down others on the beach during his take-off:

but he was soooo graceful once in flight.
