Calamajue wash? (aka Frog Canyon)
Any reason to think there might be too much water in Frog Canyon this time of year to get through with serious 4wd prerunners? Heading down Saturday
in route to San Ignacio for whale watching and trying to do as much dirt as possible on the east side of the pennsula. We have two trucks going.

Gettin' wet in Calamajue wash!
We've been through in some pretty deep water but I don't know what recent rains have done there.
The only caution I'd use is to be careful in blasting through what looks like deep water - it probably is deep water but the big buried boulders you
can't see could getcha!
Have fun and share the adventure!

Here was my Subaru in Calamajue, 1979... pre-running the Baja 1000.

Here is the remains of one of the mission buildings at Calamajue (1766)... the first choice for a mission north of San Borja. The water was useless
for growing crops so the mission was moved further north and called Santa Maria de los Angeles.

I went through Calamajue 2 weeks ago on a dirtbike. There is only one section that the water is a little deeper than normal and should be no problem
with 4wd. A Mexican in his 2 wheel drive pickup went through. He walked through the deep spot to find the best path and had no trouble with his truck.

Anytime Chris... browse away! Been going to Baja since '65, and still can't get enough! Will be going back next week, but in a rush to get to L.A. Bay
from San Felipe after Lou's turkey party... so won't be turning left at Coco's Corner.

Villa Bahia, Costa del Sol, Raquel & Larry's all get high reviews.
We stayed at Las Hamacas after the Baja 1000 in 2006... okay except no water pressure in the shower.

Just stayed at Raquel and Larry's...No cook, hot water turned off when you aren't lookin, just a kid that collects the money but not really running
the place or cleaning, internet off, kinda abandoned. Costa is now $50 for a room and the only internet for free. Everyplace down there was SLOW. bg

Looks pretty deep there... but as you say, "it's a Toyota", so it just has to MAKE A SPLASH!
Great photos Ken... YOU GOT BAJA!

An elderly couple were driving their 4 Runner with our Jeeps. The Taco had 4" of TOTAL KAOS suspension and 33" Bridgestones, gears, etc. Nick was at
the Baja 1000, and then did a FAST return trip for Baja Grande in '07. Due to work, he couldn't swing '08, but he hopes to be there for '09.
