New Road to Laguna San Ignacio Open Yet?

Does anyone know if the new paved road going from San Ignacio to the Lagoon is open yet? It looked about ready to be last year when we were there.

My understanding was that it was going to be a three year project---that is what one hotel owner told us.

We will be there, we hope, in February and will see what has happened.

Was over it about 4 weeks ago and it is paved out past the dump which was the worst part. The rest of the way for the most part was 30 to 40 mph

Was there last March. About 10km of the road was paved. But there was no evidence that there was ongoing construction. Also understand it was a three year project.

no, our Saturn Vue took the brunt of that trip...someone (not me) was driving too fast and this rock was in the way....We are taking Big Red on THIS trip for sure! Big Red had electrical problems last week that got fixed on Monday afternoon. Going to have a few other things checked out on that beast before we head to Baja Sur!

So, can we drive any part of that new road?

Took the road from San Ignacio to La Laguna on Dec. 28th, arout 4pm or so.

The pavement took me by surprise - but it was nicely paved for exactly 10KM. I was told it was a "4 year" project... so, an additional 3 years? What I heard was that it would be completed all the way to San Juanico by then.

:?:

Then again, I know the Rural Coastal Road was supposed to be paved all the way through from La Ribera to San Jose del Cabo.... and that was something like, what, 14 years ago? The paved highway still stops short of even Cabo Pulmo to this day.
