Ensenada police station shot up, no one injured

http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/jan/26/bn26tjsho...

By Jose Luis Jimenez
January 26, 2009

ENSENADA — Gunmen fired more than 200 rounds at a police station early Monday morning, but no one was injured, according to the Baja California Attorney General's Office.

The attack took place just after 3 a.m. at the La Misión station and left bullet holes in the walls and damaged five patrol cars, according to the Attorney General's Office.

Nearby, authorities found three assault rifles and bullets inside a Chevrolet SUV and a pickup, both of which were reported stolen from California.

Authorities do not have a motive, but they believe it may have been in retaliation for the arrest of Santiago Meza López, 45, who confessed to dissolving more than 300 bodies for a drug cartel, according to the Mexican federal Attorney General's Office.

Meza, two other men and a girl were arrested last week by the Mexican military and the Federal Police at the Baja Seasons RV resort, just off the toll road and about halfway between Rosarito Beach and Ensenada, according to the federal agency.

Meza was transferred to Mexico City over the weekend, where he told federal officials he started dissolving bodies for drug cartels about nine years ago and was paid $600 a week, Mexico's Attorney General's Office said.

The victims were delivered to him dead, and it took about 24 hours to dissolve them in barrels filled with acid, Meza told authorities. The remains were transferred into plastic drums that were then burned with trash, according to Mexico's Attorney General's Office.

Meza, a former construction worker, said he started working for the Arellano Félix drug cartel and later worked for trafficker Eduardo Teodoro García Simental, also called El Teo.

Law enforcement authorities say García was a one-time member of the Arellano Félix cartel who left the organization this year, sparking a battle between rival drug gangs that has left hundreds dead in Tijuana.

Why must it be distorted as to make people believe it was in Ensenada. La Mision is were this happened. Yes, La Mision belongs to the municipality of Ensenada but then so does the rest of the state all the way to the border with Guerrero Negro. Also notice the url address has tijuana-shooting.

Because those of us who live in la mision would like to believe it happened in Ensenada.

Then why would they shoot up the police station? They play for the same team.

I have been staying down in La Mision since the 17th. I did see some of the Federal police on the highway a few days ago, obviously looking for someone.
I did not hear anything last night though...but then again I am quite a ways from the police station, and a sound sleeper.

If I am not mistaken Delegacion La Mision is between Rosarito Beach and Ensenada. Here are a few pictures from the Web Site of Agencia Fronteriza de Noticias.

You are correct about the location ELINVESTI8. La Mision is technically part of the municipality of Ensenada, even though it is located many miles from the city of Ensenada.

When I was a child my church used to go to an orphanage in La Mission they supported. They stopped going last year because Church members taught Baja was too dangerous.

Well Woody, at 8 am they would have to bring donuts to coax the cops out of the building. At 3 am, everyone is sleeping in the back room, so the bad guys can shoot up the cars in front.

Got it?

Fear works better on people than actually killing them. Killing regular cops might raise the stakes too high.
