Ensenada to Mulege, and return

I’m going to be taking the drive from Ensenada to Mulege for the 1st time in a few days. Does anyone have any information on current road conditions or any other advice? Is the trip doable in one long day or should we take 2? We’re also wondering about a good place to stay in Mulege. :bounce:

The Mulege Hotel is nice, clean and reasonable...right downtown and directly across the street from one of the nicest restaurants in town...The Casa Granada B and B is right on the river and very nice also...it's a straight shot down from ensenada but i like to break it into two days, stopping at Guererro Negro for a night.

Hi Chuck... long time, no see/ hear!

It is winter and with the days being very short plan on a 'muy early' start from Ensenada to make Mulege by dark.

Think about staying in San Ignacio instead, then making the short run to Mulege the next morning... http://www.IgnacioSprings.com is a B&B so well mentioned that I would make a reservation there... the breakfast prepared is to die for... so they say!

If you make it all the way to Mulege you might try the Cuesta Real, the turnoff is well signed, about a klick after the bridge.

Take 2 days - stop often, and drive rested. Too many hours behind the wheel is not safe. Stop at Catavina - the Desert Inn, and enjoy the pool, and the surrounding desert locale. Have coffee and breakfast at Rancho Santa Inez just down the road instead of the Desert Inn (or both).

I totally agree with this one... it's on the Riverbank and a nice walk into to town... and close to Jungle Jims, where you must be at 4pm every day... Happy Hour... hahahaa. They also have a small bar/restaurant on the premises.

It's been nearly 2 months, and Chuck never responded Roger...?

Chuck is the new publisher of that great old Meling Ranch book, by-the-way.
