Pavement - San Jose to the East Cape
It was annouced yesterday that the road will be paved from the San Jose del Cabo airport to Palo Escopeta, then out to the East Cape, probably at Boca
del Tule/Boca del Salado and north to La Ribera.
It might actually happen as it is private money to service a major East Cape project in the Boca del Salado area.
Good or Bad, but changes are coming.

Well, if the private money does as well as the private money for the bridge in the San Jose arroyo, we are safe.
We, too, have our bridge to nowhere.........at both ends.

Grupo Questro, is a Mexican mega corporation with interests in a number of different businesses, including Corona beer. They are the developers of
the Puerto Los Cabos project as well as Club Campestre at the entrance to San Jose. They are essentially out of money and all projects have come to a
halt. The bridge is destined to become just another piece of Mexican "urban art."
Perhaps the East Cape road will be finished in time for the next generation to enjoy, but don't count on it.

Grupo Questro also developed Cabo Real. They presently have several projects on hold, including one at Puerto Penasco.

This is not Grupo Questro, but a Spanish group called Coral Baja in the article.

I think the thread veered off to complain about the lack of completion by Grupo Questro. sort of a comparison. The one thing that might be helpful is
that paving the road usually also means extending the grid. Of course there are probably many hardly souls out there who would rather exist with their
solar/ diesel combos.

is it just me or has there been some sort of "announcement" about paving this road every year.... it's sort of like the annual East Cape golf course
announcements - all taken with a magnum of salt.

I read somewhere last year in Spanish print that Baja was aiming to push pavement in the same direction as new power poles. Somebody at CFE had done
an analysis of the cost of bringing power out to different remote areas and whether enough new meters generating revenue were brought online to
justify it. The common denominator they found was access and the justification of some the federal funds given to the state this year was to work
together with CFE to plan new pavement / grid expansion together.
Maybe this is part of that program...
