Top Mx Drug Cop Arrested !
And The Hits Just Keep On Commin - This from Reuters this morning ...
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – The former head of Mexico's special organized crime bureau has been charged with selling information to one of the country's
most powerful drug cartels, the attorney general's office said on Sunday.
Noe Ramirez, who stepped down as chief of the SIEDO federal investigation unit in July last year, was detained in November for allegedly receiving
$450,000 for passing secrets to the Sinaloa cartel, headed by Mexico's top drug fugitive Joaquin "Shorty" Guzman.
Mexico's police force is riddled with corruption and the arrest of the country's top drug prosecutor has been the biggest catch so far in a sweeping
probe to smoke out cops and government officials working for drug smugglers.
Two other anti-drug agents were jailed in 2008 for taking bribes of up to $500,000 from the Beltran Leyva gang, which recently split from the northern
Pacific Coast Sinaloa cartel.
President Felipe Calderon's two-year-old crackdown on drug cartels has sparked turf wars between rival gangs that led to the deaths of around 6,000
people last year.

Should actually read FORMER top drug cop.
It will be interesting to hear Pato's opinion of this. Calderon still appears to be morally above all this to me. Witness the prosecution of persons
who were believed to be working for competing cartels.

Huge front page story in San Diego Union Trib today. Whole article is about Mexico repeating the drug war efforts of Columbia and getting the same
non-results. The big drugs gangs just get broken down into smaller neighborhood ones that the police and system "tolerate" rather than do battle
with. In the end- the Mexican authority says the drugs will always get to where the buyers are- so they blame the user, not the suppliers. Best case
for legalization I have seen so far.

What a jerk off....
I don't detest Mexico, It is a beautiful country
And I carry an advanced degree in Engineering ....
Perhaps that is why I can't stand the tradespeople down here, they have NO training, and don't know what they are doing.
And after all the backsheesh and bull---t it is actually more expensive to live here than in the US .....
Food prices are sky high in Todos Santos, requireing us to drive fifty miles to buy supplies.
I am counting the days until my leaving .... May first.
And you can stay if you like living with the dirt people

And the poppy crop is blooming in Afganistan. Why raise corn when you can raise poppies? So many resources, people, money, wasted world-wide in an
attempt to control the uncontrolable.

Take yourself off your own distribution list and they will drop to zero.
BTW, everyone who wants CrapoRon to keep posting these racist remarks regarding the kind people of Mexico, please make your support known by adding
your name to this post with your message of support for him.
It has been suggested more than once and by more than one Nomad that CrapoRon could just simply stop posting right now and not wait until May 1 (World
Celebration Day for Communists).

WOW, this posting just went down down down the toliet. I do not know what has soured you so much on Baja but Ron really most of the locals you know
are good people. I think you just let your temper go off before you thought your post through. I have read posts by you that really showed your
delight in Baja lifestyle. I think the current economics, drug wars destroying a lifestyle that many on this board love has driven people's tempers
over the edge. I cannot be nor want to be the peacekeeper between the Gull and yourself, as I doubt anybody could do that at the current time. I
doubt if you two have actually met and probably would not be a good idea either. Either way I hope your memories of the good times still outweigh the
bad times. Peace brother and hopefully life will still be good for you in some part of the world, as we are all searching for it!!! "No Hurry No
