Hotel Recomendation in Ensenada

Looking for a simple place to stay for a night or two. Any recommendations? Stayed at Hotel Villa Fontana Inn last time. $75 seemed fairly fair. Was hoping for around $50 or less this time.

Thanks in advance

I have no suggestions for Ensenada as I never stop there, but with the strength of the dollar right now, your $75 hotel from a few months ago should be about $51 today.

Others may disagree, but I like to use my ATM card at a major Mexican bank to exchange money and get the most current rate without carrying a lot of cash.

define simple?

I like Motel Colon. Stayed there 2 weeks ago- 350 pesos - $24?

Clean safe quiet. Walking distance to the tourist district. Inside courtyard parking. Manuel the proprietor is a really nice honest guy speaks good english.

Interior decor/ furnishings are a bit hand me down if you are expecting US hotel standards.

I saw Hotels with banners advertising 200 pesos/ 13$? nite

Ensenada Inn, on Blvd Gen A Sanguines. From the Costero, turn left at the navy base, go about 3 blocks....on your left.

ColoradoDude -

A nice hotel that is a no-brainer to find is the Baja Inn Santo Tomas. We stay there often and it is walking distance to a lot of restaurants and bars. It also has a pharmacy in the building which has been useful on occasion. As you enter Ensenada from the toll road, you will see it on your left after the second (I think...) signal - it is on the corner. Also, it has enclosed, secure parking with a guard. At night they lock the gate to the parking area and the only way in to the parking area is through the hotel. I've never had my stuff messed with there. Here is a link: http://www.bajainn.com/upload/hst.html

Good luck with your trip and have fun!!!

Try Hotel Las Palmas - Most secure place in Baja - 24 hour check in - in gated parking lot - just before the hospital on the "old route" - turn left after going through Ensenada (at military base) instead of going straight on the new road - it will be on your right - large pottery store across the street - rooms maybe $45? -

If you are referring to Las Palmas al Paraiso, that's even closer to the sewage plant. Adjacent to it. And last I was there, they were asking $100 a night.
