What can you tell me about the property in Bahia El Morro? I heard that Orendain lost the property in court. Yet I see that he is still selling lots there.
How is that possible?

Fishbuck,
Thanks for writing.
No, Orendain did not lose the property in court. He still owns the available lots shown and can provide titles and title insurance.

Been to San Quintin lately?

Your quoted prices are absolutely ridiculous in this current world economy. Post back when you can be serious.

Hi, Dennis - Yes, we are involved in some ejido lands-- But only in the right way.

Shoeless,
I liked your site. I did not know there were so many new homes and sites developed in that area. We will be down to check it out in the future.
Any surf sites??

I wish lot prices were always quoted in dollars / sq. meter, the common area measurement in Mexico (11 sq. ft. per sq. meter). An acre of land is 4048 sq. meters. At 30K per acre, thats about $7.50 a meter. That's reasonable but I place high value on the availability of electricty, water, and telephone, so maybe it's not cheap. A 1/4 acre lot at $7.50 a meter is more attractive. Plus, of course, you need to be real careful with oceanfront land because of the Federal Zone complications.

Also, BTW, traditionally the REAL baja begins at El Rosario because that's where the pavement used to end. But that's a nitpick.

As mentioned in past, I almost bought from Orendain at Pedregal/SQ. That area is wonderful.

I decided to live in the UNREAL Baja. ;)

Actually, it used to end on the south end of Maneadero.

I yield the floor to those old timers here who recall the days before asphalt was invented.

Report from a fossil-------as I remember  in the late 50's, the pavement ended at San Vicente, and was a horrible graded and washboard, and sometimes muddy road on down to at least San Quintin-------beyond there I can't remember where the "two-track" started. :?:

I don't know what I don't remember for sure, Barry, but my recollection of the early sixties was the end of pavement just south of Maneadero.
Let's put out a call for David K. He'll know.

Si, or "Vince" would know also (if his memory is any better than ours)

I (and "Vince") went to the Meling Ranch in '54 and believe that we were on pavement to San Vicente, but I may be confused (????)

I did a little research (tho Google did not help me). In the 1962 addition of the LOWER CALIFORNIA GUIDE BOOK, by Gulick and Gerhard, they say the pavement extends to about 17 miles south of San Vicente ending at "arroyo Seco" in 1962------that jives better to what I remember, but I cannot confirm that it went that far in 1954--------------I seem to remember that the pavement ended in '54 at the deep wash just north of San Vicente, but of course not sure.

Then I checked the 1975 revised addition of the "BAJA CALIFORNIA GUIDEBOOK" by Wheelock and Gulick and on page 36 of that book it states, "By the mid-1930s, pavement from Tijuana was completed to Ensenada; and in the 1950s to Mexicali, San Vicente and San Felipe."

I rest me case (for now).
