Um, I think a car like that would make someone stick out like a sore thumb proving they have tons of money and, in my opinion, make them more of a target. I agree with law enforcement and guv ppl and easily recognizable rich business men having them but for other ppl.... i dunno. The cars can still be surrounded or harrassed by a group of bad guys (that may be in their own cars too) and then what will the driver do?

Car jackings were a big problem when I lived in South Africa in 1996. Some enterprising individuals developed a simpler and cheaper solution than armor plating. They offered to install either a spring loaded machete or a flame thrower under the driver's door. The device could be activited by the driver. Not sure about the resulting liability if you misfired on an innocent but they were pretty effective at nuetralizing the threat when someone approached you while stopped at a red light.

I always found that being aware of my surroundings and keeping the foot close to the accelerator was just as effective.
