Love the youtube documentation and the Johnny Cash soundtrack. It will be interesting to see how things develop. We were listening live to the radio relay during the race when things started looking fishy. It would seem that if you are going to take a shortcut as alleged that you should come in first,no?

In the old days, the goal was to get from the start to the finish as quickly as possible as long as you went through each checkpoint...

At the 250, no checkpoint was missed, so it depends on how the rules state about 'open running' between checkpoints. I would guess that SCORE didn't figure anyone would shortcut into Matomi canyon by driving off that cliff!

And last year in a NASCAR race he was caught throwing roll bar padding out the window of his car to get debris on the track so there would be a Yellow flag on the lap and he could catch up.

Looks to me like the man did what he had to do to get around a guy that did not want to get out of his way.
Hard to visualize that as "short-cut"
Seems like a pretty rugged path to run....
(If it was really a short cut, then the regular road would already run that direction- that is the way Baja roads get cut in, by finding the shortest, best path to the destination)

Cutting 4 miles off the course to me is a "short cut". There are indications that he had "Pre-run" this route.

Score website says they'll make a decision by the end of the week on the protests.

The life of Baja Off road racing...not road course.

Robby Gordon is not a legend in NASCAR...he does rank in the top 35 of NASCAR which makes him one of the top 35 drivers in the world. He has more smarts and gonads then all the whiners in off road racing. Notice I did not say road course racing. This may have sparked a little life back in off road racing. God knows it needs it. If Score?? changes the rules for these whiners, then you can count Baja off road racing in the same dieing camp as most all open wheel racing...Gutless. Well, an over statement, as open wheel drivers still have a few brass gonads hanging around.

Remember When....

PJ had a Cat cut a "short cut" off the top of the El Rosario airport mesa so he & a few friends could cut off running up the arroyo.

Uhhhhh, I think he got caught.
Actually, yes, it is Mexico, and I like the old school way of thinking, but they have a course set out for reason as to keep everyone from going which ever way they want, and ripping through some Rancher's property.

The tracking devices make you stay on course and within the speed limits on the hwy. This race did not use the trackers and this is the results. Over the years many have used lines that some would call cheating and others may say were creative. Some factory teams were given options that others did not know about. No body should be surprised as to what happens in these situations. Honda and Kawasaki got away with cheating for years. It was highlighted in the movie Dust to Glory showing Johnny Campbell running down the shore line. Not once but twice. That would not be cheating if Sal tolded Honda is was OK before the race. If he did he should also have told the other riders about it at the deivers/riders meeting.

Keep the tracking devices in the race and we will have better racing.
