No frozen food, or refrigerated food, unless you shop late when the lines are short at the border.

Go to any supermarket in Chula Vista and count the Baja license plates. That has to tell you something.

The groceries on both sides of the border are getting closer in price. But the packaged items in Baja have been considerably lower. The grocery shopping I do, is in Ensenada, and Calimax and Soriana's are pretty close. Ley is way off base on their prices. The best prices on tequila, however, are at Licores Don Pisto in Puerto Nuevo. We stock up there when we head south.

For someone so concerned about what you can bring back across the border, why would you highlight a 12-pack of Coors Light? Last time I checked, you're only allowed 1 liter - or no more than probably 3 cans.

And on top of that, they've also included a bottle of tequila.

apparently there are deals to be had.

I've never ben a fan of the way they butcher beef down here though- I may take another look if properly cut New York Strips are really $3.26 a pound.

My community in rural San Diego has a Stater Bros, and an Albertsons. A smaller IGA just opened catering to the Hispanic market...Mexican music...signs in Spanish....and much lower prices.
