tripledigitken's photo honored
Congratulations to our own tripledigitken whose recent Baja photo was chosen by Imaging Resource as Photo of the Day. Very well

What really makes this picture for me are the shadows. They've got just enough texture and color and light in them. It's unusual in a picture for the
dark part of the image to carry it like that. I can't think of one right offhand. But here the lit stairs are secondary. The 'film' exposure was just
right on.
Great job, Ken.

Yeah, I have that shot of those stairs, but isn't that image reversed? More than one set of stairs? Seems like the stairs run up the west side of the
building heading north. Am I just making things up? Just my failed memory again?

Very nice... see, the missions aren't just piles of rocks! Well, not all of them, anyway!

Thanks for all the kind comments.
Vag. As you look at the front of the Mission these stairs are on the right. I would call it the north side, but I could be wrong on that.
Dennis. Timing has a lot to do with success in Photography, as your keen observation suggested. An hour earlier or later would not have produced
with right light for the shot.
Skipjack. If you noticed the EV was -1.7 which allowed the stairs to not be blown out yet not have the walls entirely black either.
David. I agree the rockwork is incredible on these missions in Baja. I love the Scallop Relief above the door at San Borja for instance.
Nena. Thanks for linking the site.

Awesome..........Ate breakfast caddy-corner from there this morning and looked at those steps. Great shot.
I took this picture this morning. Looks like the stairs are on the west.

Beautiful shot, great textures and use of ligt/shadow! No wonder it won!
Here are some videos of another famous stairway in Mexico. Enjoy.
