Where to buy Mattresses ?
I will be taveling south in three weeks and will be looking for mattresses. Has anyone purchased mattresses in the last couple of months? I will be
purchasing 4 twins and a full or double. La Paz or CSL. My place is in Pescadero.

I know you may not want to go through the hassle of bringing mattresses from the US, but.....
This from about 7 years ago. We traveled to La Paz and Cabo searching for good mattresses. We ordered sets of king-size mattresses for 2 guest
rooms from a company in La Paz. We waited and waited, calling many times..so finally we gave up and imported from San Diego..extremely happy with our
comfy pillowtops.
Then sure enough the La Paz mattresses arrived ....the wrong brand, size and style, naturally. This did not surprise us at all. Being used to making
lemonade out of lemons, we traded them back for custom drapes and curtains, which look very nice to this day.
So..get them in the states, unless you want to take Baja's gamble. 
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

Walmart in La Paz has a lot of mattresses in stock right now. Even had them filling up the area where they usually keep their shopping carts with
piles more in the store. A sign on the twins said M$916 as I recall.
I think the world is run by C- students.

Like Pompano stated, you have to be prepared for a Latino surprise when ordering one here.
5 Years or so ago, we ordered a queen pillow top mattress from San Diego, on 5 de Febrero in La Paz. Rather expensive at around $ 400.00. This is just
the mattress mind you.
4 days later, a small Toyota pickup arrived here in Loreto with the product. Told the guys it had to go upstairs, which raised eyebrows. After they
wrestled it upstairs, with me wondering why they had so much trouble, and it finally arrived in the bedroom, it dawned on me that it was rather large.
They send a King, and now with the bedroom dismantled, I had to figure out how to make that fit onto a queen base. Was not about to send it back.
After all we deserved the upgrade after all the aggravation.
I did manage to Mickey-mouse a base together with a second hand base I found in town. But it needed some alterations, since I had to fit a California
King onto a regular King size base. But it sleeps nice.
Things have improved in the last few years though.
I don't know if CCC sells bedding, but they deliver their products to the Loreto area for free. Something to think about.

Mattresses, oh yeah.
Finding quality mattresses in La Paz is pretty close to impossible, especially queen size. There are plenty of mattresses in matramonial and king
sizes, but they are only of average quality. If you go to the more expensive places like "Ramos" furniture store on 5th de Febrero or the two fancy
schmancy furniture stores on Colossio just a couple of blocks below Forjadores, they have beds and decent quality furniture. The chain department
store Elektra also carries mattresses as does Walmart, Soriana, and the City Club. There a decent furniture store in down town La Paz, I think it's
on 16 de Septiembre, that has mattresses. Also, there is a small private store on Abasolo across the street from Bancomer and CCC market. The owner
doesn't keep regular hours, but she has some quality mattresses with a 5 year warranty from $400 to $600 USD depending on the foreign exchange rate.
I had the same problem you are having finding mattresses, but my problem was due to limiting my choice to queen size. If you want matramonial or king
size, no problem.
Oh yeah, then there is getting a "base" for your mattress. I settled on a wooden base from one of two used furniture places (right next to each
other) in Chametla on the main road about 1/8 mile past the on ramp to the airport on the right hand side of the road (I furnished most of my house
from those two places). Cost me about $900 to $1200 pesos each. I can't help it, I'm cheap.
