Good News in Bad times...

I will start like this, how much power do a picture have?.
Im watching tv in my house when my phone rings, it's my sister who is a LP manager for Walmart, she says" hey brother are you still doing that bike thing in Baja,(my sister has not attend any of the toy drives for Dia de Reyes)," to wich i respond "YES", Well the problem is we have a few bikes,( merchandise that people return to the store and can not be sold again due too liability), it's about 10 bikes, because the other ones were promise to the Boys and girls club she tells me, so if you want them get me a letter from your friend Ferna, where it shows that you wantem for charity and not to resale, she says. Right of way I call Ferna to let them know the good news and ask for the letter, wich he sends right of way via e-mail, the next day that letter is in the hands of the store manager and he saids" It looks legal to me, give them the bikes".Back to the picture question my sister Know about this project because of the pictures I show her of the Punta Banda event, and some how she remember that.Back to the bikes, so she calls me to go pick up the bikes and to my surprise, The people from The boys & girls club, doesn't follow up in their promise to go and pick up the bikes, so the store Manager says," GIVE THEM ALL THE BAJA KIDS EVENT", all 28 of them. Yes 28 "NEW" bikes that are just missing a few parts, like one pedal or a broken brake cable and nothing more. I couldn't belive my eyes 28 new bikes for the kids in Baja..So far DIA DE REYES 2010 is looking pretty good, I juts wanted to share the special event that took place today, all thanks to a few pictures that I show my sister, and also thanks to Walmart in College avenue in Lemon grove.
Here are the pix of some of the bikes..

Incredible!

I had a chance to go with the group during the latest event. It is a wonderful experience.

My hat is off to all of you that have helped in so many ways, and continue to do so.

We feel so blessed with what Jose was able to do for the Dia de Reyes Toy Drive, this really gives us a head start on the next event scheduled for January 3rd 2010. At this rate it looks like it will be another successful toy giveaway from Baja Nomads to less fortunate kids.
Gracias Baja Cat.

This is great news.... a real good story which will get even better come Christmas.

I imagine 28 bikes take some fair amount of storage space. Thanks BajaCat for picking them up and taking care of them until next year.

We have to move them to a storage facility soon as Baja Cat has them outside in the yard and can not keep them and from that storage start bringing them across the border and find storage here in Tijuana. This is great because it avoids the last minute transporting of toys in December.
I actualy was going to start with the Dia de Reyes Toy Drive thead until after the Golf4niños event on June 13 in order to not overlap with them and respecting their event wich is also for helping less fortunate children but I forgot to tell Baja Cat about that so now I guess the Cat is out of the bag.
We actualy have a total of 38 bicycles since the person that has been donating all the bicycles since our first event already has purchased and gotten ready to go 10 bikes for some time now and is working on getting more.
Thank you everyone.

Nothing like a very happy (and obviously the envy of the family for the moment) child with his new bike. Great photo. Thnx.
