One day in Ensenada: What would you do?
How would you spend one day in Ensenada? I've been there plenty of times and hope to find something new to do in the area/city through Nomad
responses.
Where would you go?
What would you do?
Where would you eat?
Describe your idea of an ideal day in the city and/or area.
Give plenty of details so a person could follow your lead!

Eat fish tacos at Tacos Fenix on Juarez and Espinoza, go for a wine tasting at Valle De Guadalupe (I like Dona Lupe), then end at the Hussong's
Cantina for a local touch.

I like going to the fish market and getting fish tacos at the small restaurants set up there. I second Hussong's. With any luck you can be there when
a Mariachi band is playing.

Paris de Noche to look at the expensive beautiful girls. Then over to Anthony's to look for a good enough girl but reasonably priced girl.
And then back to the hotel for a small party.
And then back to Anthony's if I still have any money.

Other than the latter, ignore all of Fishbuck's suggestions. Really need to know what the day of the week as there are different things on different
days!

First id load up on some shrimp tacos right next to the black market.
Second id get a panga man and have him take me to Todos santos island to go surf some wild big waves and if there werent any waves id go to San miguel
and Drink a 12 pack of beers. If thats close id go to Hussongs and drink a 24 pack there all Day
READY SET.....................

Go to the Malecon and take a boat ride around the harbor-cost about $2.50 and takes about 1/2 hr. You can see numerous seals (former residents of the
ship Catalina), cargo ships, Tuna boats and just view the harbor while in the harbor.

Definitely sample the fish and shrimp tacos at Tacos Fenix. Best in town according to pretty much anyone you ask. For a more sophisticated (or a
second) lunch, they have a great little cafe at the back of La Esquina de Bodegas (part of the Santo Tomas winery complex on Miramar), which is a wine
store and art gallery space set up in an old wine storage building.

Okay, I'll spill the beans. But don't tease me too much....
I'm going on the 4-night Carnival cruise with my daughter on July 27th, so we will be in the port (Ensenada) on Wednesday July 29th, docking at 9 a.m.
and departing at 10 p.m.
I just know I'm gonna get a lot of teasing about being one of those 'ship tourons.' lol
I've been in Ensenada plenty of times, and have done many of the touristy things to do. But I'm sure there are ideas I can garner from nomads for
other off the beaten track activities.
I have been to the wineries, Bufadora, Hussong's, Papas & Beer, and done a lot of shopping. But please, go ahead and mention those things if that
is what you like to do. I am open to all suggestions, except perhaps those from fishbuck!
One time, JeepPete and I spent a quiet afternoon in uncrowded Hussong's. It is one of my best memories. There was an artist there, and he drew
incredible renderings of us. Worth every cent of the $20 each he charged. I treasure those drawings, and the attached memories.
I've been to Bufadora about 3 times. It is fun, but I don't think I want to spend a day there again right now.
I've been on a couple wine tours, and drove there myself to Guadulupe Valley, and while I love wine (or as David puts it, "enjoy alcohol" --cute way
of saying I like to swill one back), I don't want to spend a summer day at a winery. I would be interested in wine tasting in town without going
inland to the wineries.
We are not interested in the ship's excursions. I don't like to be a cow in the herd.
So whatever we do, it will be a design of our own. I am interested in the boat ride around the harbor. Do they really only charge $2.50? Where does
one find a boat?
Hey David, yes, that restaurant has very good vege food. Jeans took me there one time, I loved it.
Okay, Nomads, so on a WEDNESDAY, what would you do in Ensenada?
(I'm not big on shopping, I have enough junk in my house.)

Cruise into town, get off the boat, rent a car and go up to the San Diego Zoo. Do anything with your daughter but, keep her out of Anthony's.
Keep her away from Fishbuck as well.

There is one restaurant I would not miss in Ensenada...this place was amazing, unique and oh so delicioso...best meat I've ever eaten and I really
liked the idea...DO NOT FILL UP ON THE SALAD BAR...It's called PIMPAS and is near the cruise ship landing I think on the main highway along the shore.
Sirena and Adrian took me there for a mothers day treat and I wasnt excited about the idea of a big meat restaurant but oh how wrong I was....they
bring out like 30 different cuts and types of meat on big skewers so you can try them all....as much as you want...my favourite was the lamb and the
ribs were superb...make sure you dont eat for 2 days before you go there and have lots of time to spend...and get the tables near the bar as that is
where the sizzling hot meat skewers appear from the kitchen. Hint...just try a few bites of each as there is soooo much to try and it is all
delicious... Do try the cinnamon pineapple...truly a delight.
then head for Hussongs...way fun...gotta love the tuba man!

freudian slip?? Typo I believe....anyway....this place is the BOMB and has really cute waiters the gals will drool over....fabulous service which is
often so rare here. This was THE coolest place I've ever eaten in all Baja.

Mmmm, a churrascaria. When I was working in Memphis my crew and I used to frequent Texas de Brazil, which we nicknamed "Swords of Meat." For some
reason, I put on a bit of weight during that particular gig. Could have been the pulled pork for lunch every day as well.

Hi Georock!
We did that cruise too a few years ago. The kids had a blast and ate everything in site! I'll bet you can get a pretty good deal on those now, huh?
Anyway, the kids really liked the Horse Carriage ride - probably because they actually let them hande the horse. It was a bit scary though, since
you're on a busy street. Another fun thing to do is to rent Jet Skis out at Estero (I haven't seen them out yet this season - maybe you'd want to
give them a call first).
