WHAT are the "OTHER" VEHICLE BRANDs that Nomads Drive?

Taking Baja Cat's popular poll one step further... If not Ford, Toyota, Dodge, Jeep, Chevy or Nissan, what is the brand of vehicle you drive (one of the 'others')... and because there are so many vehicle brands... there will be another 'other' here!

OH... and this is important!

In order to view the poll, you have to vote... and if you voted for one of the 6 brands in BajaCats poll, but want to see the results of this poll... just vote the bottom one "Other, other than above" and we can do a third poll to break that down!

Mike. Ford was listed in the original poll.

I'm surprised there's no Land Cruiser category of some type. Old or newer. Would be nice to see that separated out from the Toy trucks.

I have a 1979 IH Scout II that I'm restoring. Many trips to Baja with this rig. Scouts are the original SUV.

They are built like tanks. Boxed frames, Dana Axles and transfer case, stout everything, including sheet metal. If I remember correctly, it weighs more than a full size Bronco.

The engine I have is the 345 V8. It is used in dump trucks, school buses, trash trucks, continuous duty pumps and other applications. It weighs more than the big block Ford and GM engines. One tough engine that can last longer than 300.000 miles!

I beg to differ...LandCruiser had the FJ45 (1961-1970) and then the FJ55 (1971-1980). Both were wagons (SUVs). When were the 1st Scouts mfd. ?

Mike you scare me sometimes!

Here is what I said at the top of this thread:

"Taking Baja Cat's popular poll one step further... If not Ford, Toyota, Dodge, Jeep, Chevy or Nissan, what is the brand of vehicle you drive (one of the 'others')... and because there are so many vehicle brands... there will be another 'other' here!"

In other words, there already IS a poll that has 6 brands plus 'Other'...

Here are the results in that thread started by BAJACAT:

Nomads who have voted so far indicate they mostly drive Fords and Toyotas in Baja

Both are almost exactly tied at 28% each.... or 56% combined.

Way down at 13% is 'Other' (brands not included in the list of 6 choices, brands like Hummer, Subaru, Honda, Isuzu, Land Rover, Suzuki...)

Next at 11% is Dodge...

At 9% is Jeep...

At just 7% is Chevy...

and in last place is Nissan at 4%.

the first and second polls are both screwy as they are incomplete (perhaps they were written by GOP pollsters)
seems like ssomeone needs to make a new correct comprehensive poll,... if anyone really cares about results.

My mom had a 1952 Willys that she used to take me and my pals to Zuma beach in the mid 50's. I remember my dad working on it a lot but he loved it too!

That's probably why I bought my Scout II; the memories of my childhood.

When you finish restoring the Scout, you'll no doubt want to dump the Excursion. I'll take it!

2000 nissan frontier---and I never have had a problem with it. Bought it new with minimal electronics (radio and ignitation only) so no problems with dust in Loreto. 2 wheel drive and will go just about anywhere I want to go.

Pinzgauers...

...anyone know of any Pinzgauers (Swiss) being driven down to Baja? A few years ago a bunch showed up in San Diego for sale. I thought of buying and restoring one until I found out they use Solex carbs (VW). I'm tired of Solex carbs and their flooding problems.

At least 4 in the San Felipe area and I think possible more than that. The carbs on the Mercedes motors are nothing like the Solex on VWs. They're a pretty much "Go anywhere" vehicle but with low top speeds. I've gone up some pretty steep stuff in one. Wouldn't mind having ond in Baja.
