American with suspected ties to drug cartel arrested

2:00 a.m. July 11, 2009

TIJUANA: Mexican authorities yesterday announced the capture of a U.S. citizen with suspected links to the Arellano Félix cartel.

Eduardo Morquecho Hernandez, 27, was arrested after soldiers, marines and municipal police officers raided a Tijuana residence, according to a military communique. They seized 32 weapons, more than 2,500 rounds of ammunition and more than 1,500 pounds of marijuana. Also found was caustic soda, a substance used by drug gangs to dissolve the bodies of their victims.

Morquecho is alleged to have worked for the Arellano Félix drug cartel, currently headed by Fernando Sanchez Arellano.

Orange County court records show that Morquecho pleaded guilty in 2001 to assault with a deadly weapon, and in 2005 to a domestic battery charge. He is wanted in California on a parole violation stemming from the domestic battery charge, said Omar Castillo of the U.S. Marshals Office in San Diego. –S.D.

Bravo!

I can't help but admire the neat & tidy display of the confiscated bootie. They are going to get a lot of PR mileage outta that picture!

Hernandez sounds like a great guy! When he's not running guns, he beats his wife.

The guy without the mask in the center of the picture, is he the perp? Looks like he spent all his drug profits on churros!

The sad part is that this isn't even the tip of the iceberg. It definitely gives one a better perspective of what they face down there on a daily basis.

The really sad part is those weapons and drugs will re-enter the supply through different channels.

I am guessing that Eduardo Hernandez had a very nice size house to store all that loot!
