Fantastic pics! You got that sucker cold! What is that wrapped around its left leg/talon? Almost looks like a wire.

THANKS to both of you.

Russ, that is a small piece of rope behind him, but I am not sure what is wrapped around his leg. It did not seem to bother him flying---sure hope it is not wire.

I notice that you also use Photobucket for photo hosting---have you tried any other sites? It seems like the picture breaks down when using photobucket.

Hope no REAL weather heads up your way---little rain is good, chubasco---NO

Diane

This is my favorite local bird here....he/she is always on that particular fence branch and is so accustomed to us passing close by he doesnt even fly away anymore. We should give him a name.
I will check to see if he still has the rope on his ankle..hope not...saw him yesterday dining on a nice fish on his branch.
Love pic #2 with our sunset casita in the background!

No, maybe someone else will.

Appreciate the comments, thanks for looking.

And yes, the bird is always on that post---except, when I remember to take my camera in the truck, he/she would not be home. But every time I don't have my camera---there he/she is---smiling at me.

OK, for this aguila pescadora, I vote for naming him Diver---

1. That is how he earns his dinner
2. He is watching over Diverlandia wondering just when the owner might return.
3. He may claim squatter's rights over Diverlandia.:spingrin:

Beautiful!
I love their call. It is so distinctive that you dont even have to see them. You know that they are there somewhere. We see a lot of them down by the estuary talking to each other about breakfast every morning.

While driving on Shell Island last September, Elizabeth managed to get photos of this guy flying along us with his catch... as we were both moving the photos aren't very clear.

Those are fantastic photos Diane. You have a great eye.

"Diver" obviously got out of the situation that put the rope around it's leg in the first place, lets hope it doesn't pose any problems in the future.

Thanks again for the photos.

Gracias

Speaking of eyes---I think those are my very favorite part of ospreys and other birds of prey---those sharp, piercing eyes.

While I love to watch them carry things for their nests, I hate to see anything around a leg, and I hope Diver was able to get rid of it.

I also hope I am not in real trouble with the other Diver.:lol:

Judy, do you think they are complaining about eating the same food over and over again! I too love the sound of birds, even the ravens that keep eating our tomates.

Diane

Sorry but I like Oscar:(
Maybe he/she was injured and taken care of at some time and left before the leash could be removed? Maybe be the reason he's/she's not as spooky as normal.

Sweet! Very nice! That rope does look suspiciously tied to the ankle. I worry the bird will get that wrapped around something.

I am only jealous that "Diver" the bird gets to spend more time in Diverlandia than I do. :(

But the name fits !!

Great pictures, Diane !!

Rumor is that Jamie is teaching these Ospreys to spot people without biosphere bands. He pays them in fish.
