What ever happened with Los Arcos in La Paz?

I vaguely remember a strike shutting the hotel down and there was talk that it would be a permanent closure.

What ever happened? Did Bermejo also close?

Last November, the Hotel union workers went on strike at Los Arcos. After several months of fruitless negotiations between the owners and the union, the owners -- the Coppolas -- decided to just call the union's bluff and close the hotel down. All the employees have been terminated and paid their liquidating wages. The slow economy was also a deciding factor, plus the hotel was old and needed updating.

Unions are very strong in Mexico, but this time they screwed the pooch by pulling that stunt in a poor economy.
