Cielito Lindo San Quintin

Is Cielito Lindo still good to stay the night? Last time there was some marooon who beeped his horn throughout the entire camp ground at 3 in the morning. I wanted to throw a can of soup at his wind shield, but thought better of it. What have been other experiences lately?

Well, I was ripped off there last winter, all of my stuff of the top with my rig parked right by the office and my room. Everyone is pretty much staying away from there when many Nomads stayed there on the way North and South, too bad since it was always fun to visit with Juanita and Dave and other Nomads that might show up.

Another problem is that they don't turn the generator on intill 9am so you have no lights or shower until then.....I still love the crap though.

I would stay in my camper, cause I think the hotel rooms are full of mold. I think they started using drywall instead of cinder block, and all the bathrooms leak. Sorry about the rip off Debra. Didn't they used to have security? I really used to love the strong margaritas after the long drive. The crab claws sometimes taste like they were boiled in bath water lately. I am very concerned about being robbed there. Thanks for the inside Debra!

Chris,
i am curious as to why you posted this in the Baja Photo Gallery? I was looking for photos of the motel in its present condition.

If you want to stay in your camper, you might try the RV place next to Jardines just south of San Quintin---off the road, nice and you can eat at the really good restaurant on the other side of Jardines---closed on mondays.

For a hotel near enough to the highway to be convenient, but far enough away to be quiet, you cannot beat Jardines. Great rooms, nicest owners, BEAUTIFUL gardens.

It is our number one choice, but is becoming popular, so we call first.

Jardins

Have fun
Diane

The hotel and restaurant have gone downhill. I like to go walking on the beach though. The campground has looked almost vacant the past couple times I've stopped. Is there another place that you can stay by the beach in San Quintin that is not a rip off like the Old Mill?

Does anyone remember or have any stories of Cielito Lindo when Mark & Toni Armstrong owned it??

Guess we have not been there during mosquito season. In a way, with the farm land and the beautiful gardens, I am not surprised. Easy places for standing water. But I will be surprised if Guillermo and Carmen do not do something about the problem.

Thanks for the info

I wouldn't recommend it. I would rather sleep in my truck or camp. Jardines has been great the last 10 times I have stayed there.

That is the first negative thing I have read about Jardines and we also have not had anything but VERY positive experiences there.

I hope if there is a bug problem it will be fixed---just cannot imagine them ignoring it. It is my very favorite hotel in Baja.

Diane, I think maybe he is describing CL in the first two sentences and Jardines in the third one.

That's how I read it as well Hook. Hopefully bajajurel will clear it up.

OPPS---Hook and Ken, while it was clear in my mind what I was saying, it did not translate to post. My post is not clear at all!

I believed bajajurel was making a positive statement about Jardines. I was referring back to the negative report by meme about the mosquito problem at Jardines. But---that is not how my post reads.

Thanks
Diane

There were plenty of mosquitos at Jardines last two times we stayed. Most active around dusk. But as Diane noted, that area of Baja is going to have mosquitos.

FYI- My comments on Jardines was positive. I guess the mosquito problem is occasional cause I have not experienced it.

martyman, posada don diego is not on the beach, it is about a quarter mile off of highway, i have maintained a trailer there for 6 years, power is on 24/7 and the restaurant serves good meals. a nice sunday brunch also. i use it as a base to explore the beaches for surf fishing from camalu down to punta baja. not much of a skeeter problem there, like most of baja the closer you get to water the more you find flying insects.
