Tourist kidnapped from bar on Revolución

Here's the link:
http://rosaritoenlanoticia.blogspot.com/2009/07/secuestran-t...

It says a Danish tourist was kidnapped Wednesday night from the Nelson hotel bar on avenida Revolución. His wife received a ransom demand of $10,000.

When this hits the US papers you can stick a fork in Mexico, it's done as far as tourism goes.

..and the bad news just keepis piling up. How do we get La Familia to take over Baja and put a stop to all this? The AFO and El Teo are useless as protectors of the people.

Theres a lot more to this story than whats being reported. A Danish tourist spending a wednsday night at Hotel Nelson, just steps away from all the drug and hoar houses?

I wouldn't stay at Nelson, and i am from TJ.

There are some more news articles coming out on the kidnapping now, but they really don't add any new information.

http://www.el-mexicano.com.mx/noticias/estatal/2009/07/24/36...

They really just have this totally absurd spin from the local authorities on how safe Baja is. It is so ridiculous, it is an insult to ones intelligence. Here is a prize statement made by a Mexican authority and quoted in the article:

"Baja California es un destino seguro, lo cual ha sido ratificado por el Buró Federal de Investigación estadounidense. "

Baja California is a safe destination, a fact that has been ratified by the US FBI."

And even though there are witnesses to the kidnapping some other putz said that because they cannot verify that a ransom demand was made, they are going to classify the case as a "disappearance", and not a "kidnapping".

Ni modo, bueys.

Baja norte is not a safe destination, period. No point on wasting time arguing that. But the new info is that ransom was NOT demanded.

Ad that to this odd story.

CaboRon,

Do you remember getting a "Hotel Nelson"decal for your car window by presenting the bartender with ten receipts for their house special drink. I think it was a Zombie.

They officially call it being "temporarily deprived your freedom for the purpose of robbery", not kidnapping.

Of course I don't go in bars there amd especially that one cuz tons of cops are often parked right out front and i AM scared of TJ cops. Had a terrifying, humiliating, and very expensive incident with them in May 2007.

You should tell us about it, if you are up to it. Though, frankly, nothing would surprise the board, at this point, in northern Baja.

Might do others and yourself a bit of good.

Missing Dane is now in the U.S. according to AFN Tijuana article.

http://afntijuana.info/blog/?p=14065

La PGJE tampoco confirmó la privación ilegal de la libertad únicamente informó que el extranjero ya se encontraba en territorio estadounidense.

Nor did the Baja California State Department of Justice confirm about the (kidnapping); they only informed that the foreigner is now to be found in the United States.
